This question stems from yet another interesting conversation had in my office this morning. Why do some black women use creams to lighten their skin & relaxers to straighten their naturally curly hair, and why do some white women perm their naturally straight hair & spend money on tanning services? My co-workers (both white and black) all agreed that it was a matter of wanting to be like or liked the opposite race. I do not agree. What are your views?

why do the jews think I should feel remorse for them in the holocost when they are the only group of people who let not only the creator of the known existance ,but their king be crucified on the cross. Did they not think that he would get his vengance one day?

How does it feel to be an Indian called a Paki? Not very niceYour not even pakistani. Exactly which is why it's offensive because people in the sub continent look very similiar. Its like calling a japanese guy a chinky not very nice, they dont even come from China. Things like this, are the reasons why i consider brits to be ignorant becuase they consider racial slurs like paki ***** and chinky as not offensive

I honestly did not know that "nappy headed" was a racial term. I am white, and I have Nappy hair when I don't comb it.

WHen I heard that Don Imus was fired for his alledgedly racist coments, I was shocked. He runs a comedy show, and he picks on every ethnic group...not just African Americans. Has America gotten so RIDICULOUS that we feel we have to protect the feelings of the black community by making a big deal out of insignificant jokes? I think that Al Sharpton was treating Don Imus with disrespect...

What do you all think about the situation?

Why are there so many fakes out there? Like Africa, and the rest of those impersonators, who spew ignorance throughout Y!A, yet would never say it if they weren't protected behind their computer screens?
I already know the answer, but I thought it'd be entertaining to see other people's opinions.

I strongly believe 'indians' were the first to live in harmony on US soil (turtle island) This being the case , surely they are the only ones who can honestly say they are what are now known as 'Americans' ??

Surely everyone else are incomers. Even though they outnumber the "Native American Indians".

I am UK born with West Indian parents. I moved out of London with my husband and children to get away from the number of black people where I lived. I have now found a increasing number of them moving into the area I now live. Yesterday I found my self moving away from a small group of African people (in my local supermarket) in case the other shoppers though I was with them. I know I've probably stirred up a hornets nest but appreciate your comments all the same.

I've been reading a lot of questions and answers on here, and it's amazing the double standard that seems to prevail. It's ok for shock jocks to call white people crackers, but white shock jocks can't use racially insensitve speech towards the black community. It seems to me that both shouldn't be allowed. I understand there should be free speech, but not free speech that will hurt others. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can smear the names of innocent people before even knowing if a crime was truly committed, they can use deragatory terms toward jewish people, and they are free to do so with no reprecussions, not even an apology. Any person who is involved in falsely accusing an innocent person of a crime should apologize, regardless of their color. Being a minority doesn't make you exempt. I grew up poverty stricken, no money, no father, etc. and I am not a minority. It is not only limited to people in minorities to grow up in harsh less than perfect conditions.

This is a serious question. I am not a militant individual. I have had a conversation about this more than once, so I was just interested in what other people thought.

Looking at Latin culture it is apparent. Looking at Asian culture, it is apparent. Looking at African culture, it is apparent. Carribean, Indian, Middle Eastern cultures, it's apparent. When I think of White Culture, it's like, "Well there is this, but no that started elsewhere so it was borrowed. Then something else comes to mind and the same thing, no that started elsewhere so that was borrowed. In some cases, ideas come to mind and it is like that was stolen and passed off as something original. Plagiarism, if you will.

So let's see what people can come up with. I don't want to think that white people's culture is robbing and stealing from other cultures.
