This is a serious question. I am not a militant individual. I have had a conversation about this more than once, so I was just interested in what other people thought.
Looking at Latin culture it is apparent. Looking at Asian culture, it is apparent. Looking at African culture, it is apparent. Carribean, Indian, Middle Eastern cultures, it's apparent. When I think of White Culture, it's like, "Well there is this, but no that started elsewhere so it was borrowed. Then something else comes to mind and the same thing, no that started elsewhere so that was borrowed. In some cases, ideas come to mind and it is like that was stolen and passed off as something original. Plagiarism, if you will.
So let's see what people can come up with. I don't want to think that white people's culture is robbing and stealing from other cultures.

I know exactly what you are talking about and i often wondered the same exact thing. You're refering to the White Americans. At first i thought they didn't really have their own "culture" they're just being ordinary, I might have the wrong idea of what their culture is but the definition of culture is "a way of life" so i guess its all in the music, the way you dress (americans dont have typical clothing like most countries do, except for jeans maybe??), and what you eat.
I used to think we (african americans) didn't have a culture, but we do, it just evolved differently in the U.S. since.. u know it didn't carry over from africa well like you see in countries like brazil, jamaica, cuba, dominican republic, panama...where there's a very strong african influence with africanized spanish words, and the traditinal dances, and apparel, but we do have a culture. Our music, our accents are slightly different, apparel and style, hairstyes, our food is from savory and flavorful, but I know some white Americans acknowledge their European background and try to use the same traditions here. So, yes they have a culture, in that sense. There are greek festivals where i used to live, and others. this is a very interesting question I dont have the best answer but I gave my thoughts on it. But one thing I find frustrating is that American culture is so ordinary that when people want to keep their traditions, it becomes a problem for those that are ordinary (I dont know how else to put it) and they want you to assimilate into their ways and it makes it easy for you to forget where you come from.

If you're considered white before the law in America and within the society, historically you have this privilege to keep and openly express any culture you may be a part of. But when considered non-white, your culture is suppressed. So this produces Chicano cultures, Black cultures and other cultures in the united states in which most members are not considered white. Whereas, those considered white never developed a culture per se, but only the assertion of whiteness.

To say white people have no culture is as ignorant as some the racist views White supremicists have. Culture is the ideas, customs, arts, traditions, way people live , foods people eat etc.. Drinking of beer, vodka , champagne , French fries, sausages, kranskys, cheese. Ever heard of St Patrick's day ? Oktoberfest? Notice what the name of the language we are all writing in is called? Ever seen wooden clogs, owned a piece of denim before? Ever bet on a horse race? Played football, cricket or almost any modern sport? . Listened to classical music or any modern music which is influenced by this? Ever been in a car ? The device you are using right now comes from a factory, factories are a result of the industrial revolution . The democratic government western countries are governed by... I could go on for days..
White European culture is everywhere, but because it is just accepted as normal it doesn't stand out in our western societies..

It depends what area of the country, socio-economic level, ethnic heritage and religious affiliation you are talking about.
There is no way you can define one single "white" culture. No more than you could define a European culture, or and English culture for that matter.
Some people put church at the center of their lives, some , like my cajun friends, have outdoors activities like hunting and fishing at the center of their culture.
Whites are far too varied to pigeonhole into one cultural description. Do blacks in the north not have dissimilar mannerisms and traditions than southern blacks?

I fount a link !
The center for the study of white american culture!

They have to put all over their page apologetics about how they are not a racist organization.
Which is probably why nobody discusses it. Talking about white anything makes you sound like a racist kkk so nobody discusses it.
What sprang to my mind was white can encompass so many different cultures. Like appalachia has its own culture (hillbilly music and chicken and dumplins and whiskey, and all the stereotypes included). But a new york white might prefer classical music, and cheese and wine.
Typically when I think of culture I think of music, food, holiday traditions and ceremonial traditions, language, art, and things of that nature.
Perhaps the problem is there are so many micro cultures
Like the other people said, people can have family ties to ireland, france, germany, england, or anywhere, and still be white. And their particular families hold on to some of those traditions from their roots sometimes too.

I don't think there is such a thing as white culture. I don't think there is any such thing as one single asian culture or black culture either. It's not like all Chinese are like all Japanese are like all Indians (Indians count as Asians, btw...so I guess that flushes the all-asian-culture-is-similar theory down the toilet). There are definitely *stereotypes* of what asian culture and black culture are, but I don't think those stereotypes apply to everyone, and I don't think the stereotypes are accurate.
Everything in "white culture" in America IS borrowed, because white folks came from all over the globe to live here. In the process, all the different "white" nationalities brought all their different cultures with them. It's hard to have a culture that keeps the same traditions for generations when so many different nationalities are constantly coming in and adding their bit of culture to the group. America is called the melting pot, but most white people I know are melting pots in and of themselves. I have eight different nationalities in my family alone, including ancestors from 5 European countries and from Korea. What should my culture be? Norwegian, German, Dutch, Korean, French, English?
My other thought on this is that I don't know how we are supposed to call ourselves one nation if we keep ourselves in cliques, if you want to call them that. I don't know why customs and ideas from culture shouldn't be adopted by another culture if they are good ideas. I f you are saying that is a bad thing, explain to me why it is bad? I don't understand the idea of a culture never adapting or evolving as conditions change.

it doesn't matter because different cultures are no different than different races it all causes division here in the united states because no one respect the others race or culture here in this country because of all the hate. so lets get real and stop acting like culture is important. because if it was and it was respected there wouldn't be any racism or hatred towards a particular race of people in this country. a culture of hate. keep it real.
