Victim-hood is the only legitimate excuse many have.' I have been wronged there for I can behave any way I want to and blame it on others'. Its sad really. Take Imus for example. He has made a career out of being offensive to everyone, but a comment like 'nappy headed Ho's ended in his firing. If you think about it, the jerk was probably trying to sound ebonically cool. So he be down wit da homies.Imagine how many sports teams have been called far worse. It was a stupid thing to say, of course, but Al and Jessie, who make they're living stirring up sh*t, saw an opportunity to get on T.V. and do it once again. Meanwhile, Half Dollar makes a mint rapping much more offensive stuff, much more racist and misogynistic than anything Imus said. But hey, he's an entertainer. Oh yeah, so is Imus. I guess he be a victim too.

It maybe due to mindless people thinking what they have to say is worth hearing outside their heads. Maybe the phrases they are saying should not be OK for anyone to say.
Got some lye soap anyone?
My own personal opinion is the term freedom of speech now means anything goes, so I suppose you can go ahead and say those phrases too. Just mention you are using your freedom of speech and expression. Enjoy with care

Allowing one ethnic group or gender to use certain words or phrases and not the other, is a double standard.

Freedom of speech is allowing everyone to speak as they please.

this is tricky, but like bill maher said its a "gotcha" generation, where these groups are sittting around just waiting to pounce on something thats offensive. freedom of speech did not come with a disclaimer, you take the good with the bad and you know what? sometimes in this world people are gonna hurt your feelings but learn to take it like an adult because the world is not perfect, and its not nice. its not "you have freedom of speech ONLY if you say something nice", no its say whatever you want, although you may suffer reprocutions because people r too easily offended. its sickening

"I will not agree with your words, but fight to the death to allow you to speak them."

-Ben Franklin

It is especially important for all of us Americans to practice our rights. Freedom of Speech is particularly misunderstood because many people think that it does not include offensive phrases or ideas. However, our founding fathers intended it to protect exactly the kind of speech that is offensive.

A law which protects only the words that are acceptable and pleasant is worthless.

Racism denotes a lack of freedom, as in trying to restrict the freedom of another because of their race. Thus one who argues freedom of speech when speaking racist words is a hypocrite.

Because white people don't really care so much about racism towards them because they are the majority and feel secure no matter what.
