The heart of the Irish warrior was not forged by being poor, we have been warriors since the Gauls migrated across Europe. The lasting image is the Warrior Poet, a people capable of fierce war and great stories. We are a proud people with ancient roots. Our gods were strong, stubborn and never backed down from a fight, this lives on in us still today. My babies are stubborn and strong-willed, intelligent and have the "gift of the blarney" (they are good negotiators and debators). They are 4 and 2, (genetic or learned, it is a part of who we are).

You are guilty of generalization, for sure, but I will not say that you are wrong. People of Celtic stock tend to be quite fiery and passionate. It is a part of our history. The funny thing is, all of the tough Irish that I have met are either very short or enormous. Us 6-foot tall types aren't much of a problem, it's the five-foot redhead scrapper or the giant with the warhammer that will get you.

for a long time most of the irish came from lower socio economic status groups with a larger amount of crime emerging. Different gangs and groups competed making more tough guys out of the whole thing. In the north of ireland the catholics or protestants have to be tough as they have fought each other for fifty years now. The working class in the cities often have alot of violence - there was poverty in ireland for centuries up until just this last decade.

That's right...we are tough. We've survived through thousands of years of being treated like crap by the British, through famines, etc. We are fighters. It's just in our blood. We are darn tough, maybe that's why we always need a good drink.

Oh quite watching TV. If you're not careful, a leprichaun will get you.

Finish your beer and go to bed.
