We get taught in movies how America liberated itself from the british, the Scotland movie Braveheart. Another movie is about to be released about the Spartans. What about the blacks in america? Do you believe it was peaceful marches that liberated blacks from slavery or the fact that Slaves began to kill their slave masters in uprisings in the south, they began cutting the slavemasters heads off while they slept, killing their children, infants and all. This was the only reason why slavery ended. Yet everything else is taught except these facts. Are whites afraid that the more blacks learn about themselves the more they will know how much is deliberately is being kept from them. I think we should have truthful movies about people like Nat Turner to show how violence liberated black slaves just like it liberated whites when they were oppressed. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Notice that I said some bc I did not want to categorize the whole race or sound racist.. however, I went in to Chinese restaurant the other day, and the female waitresses would not stop staring at me. Now, I am African American.. but their were other African American males and females their but the waitressses seemed to have their eyes on me. I did not smell funny or dress weird. The only thing I could think of is that it is bc I have my hair cut short, but why would they be fascinated by that if that is the reason?

Actually, not only do i get stared at from asians, but other people do it as well. Especially in stores and it happend mostly from females. I try to smile but they don't so i don't know what the prob is. Males also stare but they are a lot more friendlier. The reason, I asked about asians is bc there were not discreet with it at all, and it made me feel uncomfortable.

Anyone else here proud to be white? The European Race accomplished so many wonderful things in the world's history. Shouldn't there be a month dedicated to our fine race?

The only people I hear bringing up the topic are whites. They bring up slavery, and then when someone black says something about it, they are complaining. If you don't want them to complain about it, stop bringing it up. No blacks that I know are sitting at home complaining about slavery. Why would they? They aren't even slaves!

I really don't think that dating someone of a different race than you makes you not racist. I think people can still be racist, and date outside their race. In fact, they show it more when they are dating these people. I'm not saying that all people who date interratially are racist, but I am saying just because you date interracially does not mean you couldn't possibly be a racist.

I mean, we seem to be able to designate Black History month. Also, since there is a Miss Black America pageant, when is the Miss White America pageant? Is there also an NAAWP, since there is an NAACP?

I'm not being racist here, but I think that designating those organizations and events specifically for blacs without designating corresponding ones for whites IS racist.

A lot of people come up to me - relative - friend - stranger - and start conversations about sports. I don't mind - I like people and I'm a woman so of COURSE I love to talk, however I'm not always updated on sports so I b--sh-- my way through it and it seems to work. Is that okay?

Why is it that, on so many different occasions, a decent amount of white people, during a conversation, always give this monologue about how they're not racist. It comes in all variations - full out stating "i'm not racist", or giving some long, drawn out statement about how they wish people could get along blah blah and they always mention about the black friends they have...when all I did was ask for a lighter or the time or something.

Why does this happen. Do a lot of whites have this notion that blacks think they're all racist? I just find it tiresome sometimes to have to hear these disclaimers when i'd much rather be talking about something else. It's mostly from the 35 and up people, i've noticed.
