I never said anything about WWII, but no, we didn't come in at the last minute. We saved the French though, and they repay us by being arrogant snots.

Let me ask you this, butt-pirate... You say that Americans are war mongers? What about the British Empire's coloniol control of 1/4 of the world's land mass? The explotation of millions of people? Isn't that a little worse than starting 1 war in Iraq?

Do you know the reason why the U.S.A stayed out of WWII until Pearl Harbor? Its because we didn't want to get involved in another one of Europe's wars, Europe being the more evolved continent than ours. Did you know that Chamberlain signed a treaty with Hitler (Time Magazine's Man of the Year)? Did you also know that Time Magazine is in no way representative of the United States Government?
You know what? I have no problem at all with Britain. I, as well as the American people in general, have a great affection for the British. The British are the only country that we can actually rely on. I don't think that you Brits would have won the war without our help, and I don't think that we could have won had you lost the Battle of Britain.
The problem that I have is with the French, who have completely forgotten that WWII happened. They have forgotten that they were conquered in 6 weeks. If only we could turn back the clock 60 years and leave them to the Germans...

We love the French and 90% of Americans get on our nerves for their blind sheep stupidity, arrogance and war-mongering. We despise the small town mentality that infests the whole of American culture and the fact that your world news only features stories on America and it's wars with other countries.

No, we aren't jealous of you. We don't want to be you or be like you.

We increasingly appreciate that national identity is a good thing and that Globalisation (Americanisation) is the worst thing for any culture. While America may have some good things about it, it has more bad. Since we have been infected with American junk culture, ours has eroded and our country is suffering from moral decay.

Largely, the problem with the US is that it's "culture" is based around marketing, sales and materialism. European culture is based around lots of different philosophies and ideas, some good, some bad. The resulting society in America is dysfunctional, ignorant and collapsing. America looks for enemies and has created it's own paranoid self fulfilling prophecy. US foreign policy is the prime cause of it's becoming an increasingly attractive target for global terrorism.

The variety keeps us aware that something exists other than ourselves and that just because others are different from ourselves, they aren't wrong for being that way, maybe they shouldn't change and maybe we should defend their right to be the way they are.

Perhaps the best thing the US has to offer is entertainment - in particular, film. Some of the greatest observations from the US have been made in films and while American film makers can see the problems of their culture, the nation itself excels at failing to live up to it's moral standards.

So, on the subject of war: America joined the war after Pearl Harbour but until then, it had been only too happy to pat Hitler on the back for his "forward thinking". Time magazine gave Hitler the award for man of the year etc. The US didn't fight because it was right to defend Poland, France or millions of innocent Jews. It was quite happy to let that continue because Hitler's Eugenics social philosophy originated in and had already been put in to practice in the US.

Re: British Colonialism, it's one thing for a nation to make a mistake and then realise the error of it's ways. It's another to relish in making the same mistakes we made over 100 years ago.
You shouldn't mind a bit of British Colonialism anyway, you should love and adore it - the USA is the product of it.

I think the first posting(smarty) says it all. I'm an American, I've been to France. While travelling on the train, you look out over the country and think,"My God , how beautiful is all this?". Then you pull into a station in a town or city and are glad you made this trip. BUT within 15 minutes of dealing with the French....Your ready to Leave.

The English hatred of the French ( and Vice Versa ) goes back centuries, so i would have to say that we despise them more than the Americans could dream of. Also we have never been given a present from the French like you guys have.

Does being arrogant snots mean opposing US foreign policy? Any culture that has existed in the "upper tier" of world supremacy for more than 100 years comes to think of themselves as "the bomb" hence, many English, French, (many other countries) and Americans think ofthemselves as great when it chould be recognized that it's only a matter of time before China becomes the next world superpower. Pretty pathetic when guys with Canadian/Aussie/Kiwi flags on their backpacks claim to be American and part of" the sole superpower on earth."
And when did "us" Americans begin to hate the French?
Was it after they gave us the statue of liberty? or after they refused to join "us" in a bullying attack on anyone who does not kiss "our" asses"?

What, did a French guy steal your girlfriend? Hate is too strong of a word here.

Do you have a personal, specific reason to say you hate any other country at all? Have you personally ever left the United States?

You do not speak for all Americans. You're just acting like a ****-stirrer.

I hate the American government.
I have no problem with France or French people but then I'm Scottish and we've always had a special bond in the Auld Alliance.

The French can be irritating, and annoying - arn't we all. BUT they believe in themselves, and their country. I spend a lot of time there, and I love 'em, and you get damn good service in the restaurants, from the highest to the lowest

No we love them. They helped us win the second world war before the Spams (americans) came along and claimed all the glory.
