A lot of people come up to me - relative - friend - stranger - and start conversations about sports. I don't mind - I like people and I'm a woman so of COURSE I love to talk, however I'm not always updated on sports so I b--sh-- my way through it and it seems to work. Is that okay?

Sure, that's OK--just don't act like you know more than you do. Even a lot of guys don't follow a sport every season--I watch football every sunday in winter, but catch baseball in the box scores and sportscenter. I like watching EPL soccer (i already called another game football--sorry), but until I get tivo there is no way I could keep up with it in-depth--I just don't get to see enough games.

So if someone wants a debate or discussion with me, I won't do it in baseball, though I love arguing about football with people. But if a baseball fan wants to talk about someone on a hitting streak, that team that is just coming out of nowhere to contend, or something, I'll be able to at least listen attentively and put 2 cents in once in a while.

Like any other topic--if you know a little about it, you can have a conversation, but try not to have an opinion unless you have looked at it pretty deeply.

Well, if it works, go ahead. I usually tell folks I'm not a sports fan and try to change the subject.
