Why is it that the term "reverse racism" can be used to describe most shows we see. If a black person makes racial jokes about a white person, everyone laughs, but if its the other way around, white people would be bashed like no other and called racist and bigotted. And in movies, especially the movie Beauty Shop w/ Queen Latifah, every other word or joke is slamming white people. It gets old and there is no reason for it. Not all white people are out of touch goof balls with no fashion sense looking to the black culture to lead them through. The jokes arn't funny anymore.

Im a black woman and yes I did perm my hair at the age of 9. I'm now 13 and its still beautiful! I'm not trying to look white or trying to hide. To tell you the truth its thick and luscious just like before when i had it thick and wavy. But I got a perm for a more easier care. But many questions on yahoo are asking "why do black women perm their hair to straighten to look more white". Thats so silly! Do any other sisters feel this way? That we are being looked down on just because we get perms! I know plenty of black girls at school who have short hair and got perms. BEAUTIFUL! I just dont understand why people are saying that black girls are trying to hide their natural hair. I still have my natural hair! I will NEVER wear weave! But i just want to know if any other women feel this way.

I'm about to graduate from high school and am seriously doubting whether I want to become a doctor. I used to want to be a doctor as a kid, but now that has become more of my parents' dream. It's not that I don't want to work in the health profession, but I don't want to limit myself to one field. I'm actually thinking of going into the entertainment business, but my parents find that being a doctor would be a better option. Are there any Indians out there who have strayed away from the typical Indian career path against your parents' wishes? How did they react?

I am afraid to tell people I'm French, so I say I am German? Because my ancestors from France had blue eyes and blonde hair. French people are some of the most hated people in the world, and I would rather be considered German, and forget about my French side.

when asked if he would accept a vietnamese son-in-law, this person answered -
" Hell no! I would not except it at all. Not becasue i am prejudice, i am not, not am i a racist, but i would want my kids and newphews to resemble who we are. He maybe a nice kid at that, but there is no way i would except that and i do understand how you feel mate. I wish you the best."

When I said it was a racist response, he said I had the problem and that it was not.
I just am hoping to get feedback from others here to send back to him, Thanks!

I'm told that Generation Z will have characteristics similiar to those of the Silent Generation, but I'm not entirely sure what that means. On the surface that appears to mean indifference that isn't completely different from that associated with my own Generation, Generation X, but upon further reading it appears to be a bit more complex. For reference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Z

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Generation

Also, the only real differences I've noticed between Gen X and Gen Y are few; some of Gen Y seem more dissaffected and unmotivated than anyone in Gen X ever were, and some Gen X went on to become very successful, and were never as nihilistic or transgressional as Gen X was portrayed to be. I could be wrong though, does anyone have any take on this?

I'm not knocking teachers and or educators that do a fine job at what they do, however I am a huge advocate that what we value in school does NOT make a person smarter!

Be honest, how many people here (save maybe 30%) actually used what they learned in high or middle school? All that alegra and trig that was drilled into my head has not helped me one once in my chosen career.

They say goto school and you will get a good job. Bull! High school diploma's these days will get you a job as cashier, and guess what? You dont need algebra or trig, and kids have way too much English!

Why dont we teach our kids how to handle their money? Have a class where you must learn how to write a check and how to invest instead of mindless math that kids won't use?

Does anyone agree or disagree?
