I am afraid to tell people I'm French, so I say I am German? Because my ancestors from France had blue eyes and blonde hair. French people are some of the most hated people in the world, and I would rather be considered German, and forget about my French side.

French people are hated and Germans are not? We must travel in completely different circles. People still have not forgiven Germans for Nazism.

Do you think blue eyes and blond hair make someone German? Most of Germans aren't blond and blue eyed and on the other hand there are many non-Germans who are (like your French ancestors). I suppose you are American with French ancestry. What's the problem to tell people about that? If they want to hate you for your French ancestry that is just ridiculous, I have heard that for some reasons I don't understand there are people who have negative sentiments towards the French, but I really don't understand that and it is ridiculous. No one should be hated for his ancestry, no matter what it is. And I don't have a clue what could be so bad with the French.

But France is a nice country and French people are very friendly and generous! Have you been to France? It has such a beautiful countryside at the Atlantic and the mediterranean side. And many Germans love France.
I was for France in the Soccer Worldcup though I was a German living in Italy.
Don't be ashamed of your French roots. I always wanted to hide that I'm German, but that's no use. What do you feel like? American? So you are American.

Do you have any German ancestry? You should take pride in where you come from, regardless of where it might be. Just remember, you didn't have any control over anything that happened before you. Know your countries history and don't be afraid to stand up for it. I do it for Germany all the time.

And, by the way, Nazi's and German's can be separated. Yes, Hitler declared himself the ruler of Germany, however, it was his plans that caused the events of the 40's. The regular German army was just following orders out of fear. The SS was Hitlers personal army, so to speak.

i wouldn't say you are germna if there is not german in you. so what if some dont like the french, its who you are. just say youre french. i am french, french-canadian, german, PA dutch, irish, and two types of indian... im proud of what i have. although i am mainly german and irish, french is the next thing im most of and i proud of it. i haven't heard much mad stuff about france lately, my school is even having french exchange students for two weeks [we do every year] so why would we if we 'dont like them' i dont ..

EDIT- like the person above me said, i don't think just cuz some people are blonde and blue eyed, doesnt mean they are german or swiss.. some of my friends and and have none of that in you, in fact i have two german penpals [and like i said i have two german heritages in me] and im not blonde hair blue eyed, in fact im like medium brown and green eyes...

Where were you born? That will tell you if you are German or French or American if that is the case. My ancestors came from Ireland but I don't consider myself Irish, I was born in America so I'm American.
