I was so hurt by this. These guys at my school wre saying some awful things about my hair. They were saying that my hair was "nappy" and that I was "bald-headed" and that I used to have "good hair until I cut it" I hate the guys at my school. I used to have long hair down to my waist and now the guyus don't like me anymore because I don't "relax" my hair or wear it long. I'm tried of looking at an Ebony or Essence magazine with a Black woman with straight hair, Why can't we wear our own hair texture? And even if we do, our own people are always making us feel bad for having "Nappy hair" I'm tried of it. i'm tried of ignorant guys turning me down just because I happen to love my hair extra curly and turning me down because I'm not "light-skinned"

I've now attended 30 mtgs. in 22 days, and I do see a lot of myself in some of the speakers. I actually like going to the mtgs., getting out of my head, and hearing what other people are going through. But that first concept of having the willingness not to drink? It just hasn't sunk in. I enjoy my vodka at the end of the day, in the privacy of my own home. My life (like many people's) may be a little screwed up at the moment, but it is certainly not unmanagable. I don't see how I can begin working the steps, if I'm just a giant hypocrite. And yet I see people in these mtgs., sporting their 6 month chip, when I saw them drinking the night before! I get the "we are not saints" too, but c'mon...

My work has different ethnicities but the majority on them are white. They tell me I am too ethnic. Why should I have to give up my culture and assimilate to their culture? it's not fair!

On both television and in books they try to tell them to recycle and care about their environment and crap like that!What a bunch of liberal wacko propaganda!!Environmentalism is a godless, humanless act! What are they going to do next? recruit them for the elf? huh? Whatever happened to the importance of humans? Why the hell should my children be subject to thinking that big, dumb trees are just as important as they are? Teach them the gospel of Ronald Regan, the best president ever, that we need to spend more time caring about humans and not trees!

i am Puerto Rican... i was raised and born in Levittown, Tao Baja, Puerto Rico. When i went to america, I new no english... and the this is my 3rd year talking it. i was teased by white kids saying that im so stupid and i cant even right or spell proper english.. but then later i told them, what about you? at least i know some english and you? how many lanuages do you speak? i can speak 3 languages (spanish, portuguese and english) and they cant say **** about me not being smart. and those people only knew english... i mean when i went to Spain, no one made fun of me being Rican. my classmates in America called me a "****" and a "Spanish leftover" im like WTF? first of all, the type of Puerto Rican i am is Taino. and yes there is some blood in my family from Spain generations ago... is this an American thing or what!? it just pisses me off and their so ignorant! either get over the fact of my race or let it ruin your life..

Clearly, to me, it means "a white (skinned) person, even if ugly, is three times better than an ugly darker person." Ick!

I've heard the Japanese are really into white skin. The skin lightening biz is HUGE in Asia as well as parts of Africa. I've seen some fair skinned Chinese. But I don't know if most are really fair skinned though or not.

Is this how the Chinese really think? Is this the correct interpretation of the proverb?

im from another counrty and its my first time to go to an american public school. most of the students or maybe all are white people and there isnt much of my race. (im asian) my problem is people start teasing me and calling me "a stupid asian" or things like that. im really nice and i really dont know how to fight back. they keep on doing that to me until now and its really getting into my nerves. i tell them nicely to stop it but they still continue. what should i tell them so that they could finally shut up? should i stop being the "goody-gody" that i am?
