im from another counrty and its my first time to go to an american public school. most of the students or maybe all are white people and there isnt much of my race. (im asian) my problem is people start teasing me and calling me "a stupid asian" or things like that. im really nice and i really dont know how to fight back. they keep on doing that to me until now and its really getting into my nerves. i tell them nicely to stop it but they still continue. what should i tell them so that they could finally shut up? should i stop being the "goody-gody" that i am?

Why don't you tell an adult at your school that this is happening. Shame on them for not doing anything about it. It shouldn't be tolerated. I would try to just ignore them - be indifferent even if you have to fake it. If you don't react it will hopefully get boring and they will lose interest or find someone else to focus on or both. But please bring it to the attention of at least one adult who you trust. Because the adults in that school should be not only not allowing it, they should be trying to prevent it and spread the message loud and clear that it will not be tolerated.

If you stop being the person that you are that means that "they" (whoever "they" are) have won. Don't be a quiet just to make others comfortable in their prejudices. If you are smart be smart! If not get smart! The first step is remembering and being proud of who you are. You don't know how to fight back? It's time to learn. Stand up for yourself, it's not easy when others are intent on making you feel small. But do it anyway. Enlist the help of counselors and teachers at least let them know what's going on so if you have to fight there are people who know that you were picked on first. Back bone Hun, backbone!

Laugh with them or beat them to the punch line and try a little self depricating humor. If they are being downright mean report them as bullies and have the school talk to their parents. Then if all else fails start looking for some really good practical jokes to play on them.
