Does the united states have a rural area similar to canada's nova scotia where celtic music and dancing is still widely part of cultural life. I know Boston is largely Irish, but is there any smaller towns and villages that are still celtic/gaelic-influenced and where town denizens gather, drink and fiddle just like in the olde ireland/scotland??

Preps get to be prom king and queen, same for homecoming and such things. The non-preps are not even thought of for something like that. We are a last resort. Like this year for me and my friends. The only reason we got picked for Sno-Daze coronation is because the preps already went through the whole deal. We are a LAST RESORT!!!!!!!!

On Big Brother they all make fun of each others accents, why is it racist when they laugh at Shilpa's accent? Shilpa laughs at Jade's accent and theres nothing wrong with her doing so. If the others have been racist then kick them out of the house! they would deserve to be kicked out if they have been racist!

I've recently contacted my local lodge and spoken with a Master Mason concerning my becoming a member. I was instructed to contact my local "Ambassador" and set an appointment with him, then when we meet he will instruct me further...

I find the masonry quite intriguing and have read good things and bad things about them during my decision making process - I was simply curious as to what the commitment's are, the steps in becoming a member, and what happens when you become one...?

I've also read that during the first three degrees of masonry that you are intentionally mislead by your lodge and with each degree earned you are rewarded with a "secret" is there truth to any of this or is it all nonsense? Thanks!

Being that white is the major race and obviously hold the majority of the money in america give you the automatic power to give to the ideology that you are superior than all other races.
Here is a perfect example. Your boss comes to you and directly or indirectly tells you that you will get a promotion because the front-runner was a minority (as he refers to them as a racial slur.). Can you not admit that even if you did not feel that way that you would have to take it because of finacial reasons.
So not to take away from your fault of being the top racist, but the system does not allow you to be nothing more than a racist.

I personally believe that gay people are enduring one of the most severe forms of oppression by being denied the right to marry. It wasn't long ago that women were being denied the right to vote and black people were denied all basic human rights, but we have come a long way. In the present time of 2007, gay people are still being discriminated against and I am outraged. REGARDLESS OF YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO DENY SOMEONE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MARRY? I am not gay, but feel a need to express my concern over this devastating issue in our country. It is a Human Rights issue and it is Real. We need a solution NOW.

cell phones do have a very few good uses, but most uses are just exercises in self involvement, and create an umbrella of invisibility to the world around us.

i am interesrted in this term which i have noticed is used alot in america to refer to black people.

i know that often people who have lived in america for a few generations like to be called italian americans, for example. i assume this is because they are still part of their italian culture/want to remember that thier grandparents or whatever once lived in italy.

but most black people in america have been their since the start and basically built the country. i assume that the majority of african americans feel completely american in that most of their relatives are from america and spoke/speak english as a first language, eat american food etc. (if i'm wrong please correct me)

is this term used because 'black' is offensive? are people very proud of having african heritage? i cant help feeling that if i was called 'african american' i would feel like people thought i was slightly less american than white people, who ive never heard refered to as 'europian americans'
