Interesting point that many people are bound to have asked themselves. It was interesting when Jermaine Jackson made comments about 'white trash' and people belonging to an 'inferior class' to his and how he and another contestant were the only 'people of colour' in the show that very little has been said about it. Does it only become 'racist' when an Asian person (ie from the Indian sub-continent) is in the firing line? Are Asians too over sensitive about racism or do they have a valid point?

I honestly don't know, what the difference is. I've also had people "correct" me when I use the terms interchangeably to refer to Mexicans, or other's from like Peru, or Guatemala.

Do only "certain countries" fall into one category, and according to whom's standards? How does it work? I'm not trying to start anything, I genuinly would like to know how others feel about this.

Definitions of both according to yahoo:

. Hispanic -
1. Of or relating to Spain or Spanish-speaking Latin America.
2. Of or relating to a Spanish-speaking people or culture.

. Latino -
1. A Latin American.
2. A person of Hispanic, especially Latin-American, descent, often one living in the United States. See Usage Note at Hispanic.

God bless you guys.

I am caucasian ("white") and I wanted to start a celebration of racial diversity. I am grateful for all of the races that God has so lovingly created. Each person is special and every race is uniquely designed with utmost care. :)

I love what Martin Luther King said. He said, "I have a dream that one day...my small children will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." It is truly the heart that determines a person's integrity, not their skin color.

I would love to hear the affirmations of other races by people who exude this exemplary character. Be blessed nations of the world. :)

A couple of weeks ago on the news Mr. Bell got shot 50 times for no reason. they claim there was a 4th man that didn't exist and then they said there was a gun. Was this part of a racist act? The cops that were involve all they get was suspension with pay and investigated. How fair is that? They too should be charged and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Just because you work for the law. Don't give you a right to break it.

This is going to sound racist. But I am so shocked at some things that I am reading. So many whites are saying that they are victims of affirmative action and racism. Whites are upset because they cannot go around and say the N word without consequence. Whites are upset over BET. There is a problem with everything. If we drive nice cars.Problem. If we drive ugly cars.problem. If we like rap music. problem. If we do not like rap music.problem. If we speak well.problem. If we do not speak well.problem. Then arguments that hold no validity like slave cards and the man, come one. Wasn't that a TV comedy? What is up? I am not trying to be a racist, but don't you know that if you look for bad things then you will find it? I know that I am going to get some answers from behind the monitor racists, but maybe I will get some good answers that will help me to understand this?

You can't tell me,because of the color of my skin that I am unlikable. To be technical, We are not black. Our skin color is brown and sometimes caramel. It depends on the person you come in contact with. White people are not white they are pale or beige. So What is all the hate for. We get sterotyped and are called thugs and criminals as if caucasians never did a damn thing. What did blacks ever do to whites?

Yes, I know, years ago Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday were combined into the feeble and generic "Presidents' Day".

Then, they carted in MLK Day.

This leaves us with only one national holiday named for an individual American, and he was not a President.

How can Dr. King have a holiday, but none of our Presidents do?

This strikes me as lopsided, and absurd. I don't care WHAT color he was, he was no equal of President George Washington.

Who else is for restoring Washington's Birthday to the calendar? Not removing MLK Day, just restoring Washington's Birthday.

I want it back. What about you, readers?

I'm a total newbie when it comes to Otakon. Heck, I'm a newbie to conventions period! This year I might be going to Otakon, but I don't have much to go on as far as what to expect. I've read up on the history and I've seen various videos of people who went in previous years, but none of them seem to convey a sense of what it really feels like to attend something so massive in scale. When I get there, what sights am I going to see other than people in costume? What kind of people am I most likely to run into? Should I fear for my life around the hardcore anime fans? Also, I'll most likely go there dressed up as V from "V for Vendetta". Is that a popular costume?

I have an Asian family living next door to me and one day while I was mowing the lawn over the weekend the father spoke to me and told me about how he wants to better "assimilate to Australian culture." Unlike me, he is a Liberal voter, so he takes what John Howard says very seriously. He wanted my guidance and asked me how he could assimilate. He drove a black Mercedes so I suggested to him that instead of driving a European car that he drive an Australian car instead, i.e. an Australian-made car like a Commodore or Camry. He asked "What else do I have to do?" He kept asking me as if he was expected me to write a checklist of things he needed to do to be an Australian. I told him that I didn't really know the answer to his question and that I'd get back to him later when he comes to my house to pick up his kids. So what should I tell him? Should he start playing cricket and drink beer?

Why do a lot of whites feel threatened by black people who get rich and then start reaching back in their community and pulling out other black people who are determined, hardworking, and focused? They begin to character assassiinate, name calling, making derrogatory statements about him or her for example in the days of slavery caucasians would say black people can't read and therefore are stupid yet they had a law that if a black person was caught reading he was to immediately be killed!!! What sense did that make? They said the slaves were lazy yet they had slaves do the work they were too lazy to do themselves.. What sense did that make? i'm not racist but why does it seem when black people start talking self empowerment we become racist? are Caucasians afraid of competition on fair playing grounds?

You must go through an extensive interview with Immagration; so you must learn all you can about each other within 2 weeks. You would receive half the money as soon as you are married in her country and the other half about 3 months later when she can finally come to the US. you must register all papers in the US upon your return; if you don't, please hope her family does not have ties her in the US, or else you will have live in a black box in a dark corner. Careful, she does not have to divorce you and will face questions once she is in the US
