Yes, I know, years ago Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday were combined into the feeble and generic "Presidents' Day".

Then, they carted in MLK Day.

This leaves us with only one national holiday named for an individual American, and he was not a President.

How can Dr. King have a holiday, but none of our Presidents do?

This strikes me as lopsided, and absurd. I don't care WHAT color he was, he was no equal of President George Washington.

Who else is for restoring Washington's Birthday to the calendar? Not removing MLK Day, just restoring Washington's Birthday.

I want it back. What about you, readers?

FOREVERQ.., nobody I ever heard of voted to have MLK Day. And, if you recall, plenty of us resisted the "Presidents' Day" crap.

HEATHER S, you need a refesher course in American History. Without Washington, there would have been no U.S. for any of us... King included.

I posted a simular question last week, it turns out that MLK day was mandated by the people and the people were not consulted on President's Day.

Columbus day is also named for an individual.

And why should we have a holiday named after a president? They're just people. We broke from England to get rid of royalty, so why create it?

And I think it's great that we have a Martin Luther King day. It reminds us to teach our kids about him and what he stood for.

i could care less about that racist George Washington....MLK was a way greater man and therefore deserves a holiday first before George Washington
