Fear and ignorance.

You do realize you are talking about less that 1% of the population are bigots to that extreme? There is no real point in worrying about it. There is no realistic way to make all people stop hating just because you want them to. Some people will always be irrational about race and gender.

The last statement is the answer to your question. Hate is irrational and you are trying to examine hate in a rational/logical way to understand it. You cannot logically make sure of something that is irrational.

There is a sort of inborn, neurological predisposition toward xenophobia in humans, arising out of the necessity to reduce complex situations to binary choices, as a survival technique.

We create polar dyads upon perceiving, in order to quickly determine whether what we are perceiving is dangerous or not, so that we might fight or flee.

There is some evidence that culture reinforces these polar dyads and makes them more or less permanent.

You need to realize the majority of people are just complacent and say whatever comes to their mind to initiate a conversation. Basically if you tested someone you would find that they really hold no views on anything and they are just barking.

I personally think it stems from fear. It could be either fear of the unknown or fear of themselves. I think many people who openly hate gay people are actually afraid because they have a carefully guarded attraction for the same sex and they don't want anyone to know.

I don't get it either.

Even if one disagrees with the behavior of homosexual individuals they should still respect them as human beings.

As far as race, I think, unfortunately, many of the minorities perpetuate the problem. All people should be judged based on their individuality; we should all be individually accountable.

Gays are not immune to being racists either. Look at the gay movie industry. It is so vanilla.

However, homophobia in the name of god is very hypocritical. If you judge others by the law, you will be judged by the law. If you offer grace, you will be given grace.

The people who are like this are people who do not have much self worth. How can you care about other people when you do not think much of yourself? They need someone to look down on----to make themselves feel better and more important.

I think most of them are raised that way. We are all products of our environment. Not all people who don't like homosexuality are homophobic though. I've been called that because I dare call homosexuality the sin that it is. I'm not afraid of homosexuals I just can't condone their sinful lifestyle. As for racists, there is no excuse for that. Jesus Christ died for all people of all races. God is no respecter of persons. He sees the heart, not the skin.

I know it makes me insanely mad too, people have clouds in their minds here. I never heard that much racism in real life, but here people are so racist its unbelievable, whats worse is that they act like they are not racist.
