Does the united states have a rural area similar to canada's nova scotia where celtic music and dancing is still widely part of cultural life. I know Boston is largely Irish, but is there any smaller towns and villages that are still celtic/gaelic-influenced and where town denizens gather, drink and fiddle just like in the olde ireland/scotland??

1. There are lots of communities out there - you just have to look for them. Here's a useful starting website for you. It has information on all the following Celtic cultures from the British Isles, which are active in the USA: Irish, Scottish, Ulster Scot (Scotch-Irish), Welsh, Cornish and Manx. It looks like the site has not been updated for a long time, so a lot of links are no longer active. However, those links that are still valid provide an excellent insight into active Celtic culture in the USA, and even the broken links are informative of some of the cultural associations that exist there (and you could always undertake your own websearch for the named organisations).
