I know I have mentioned the topic of racism before, but this is a question for everyone. I was taught that making stereotypical or racist remarks about any group was never ok. However, my half-sister and brother were not brought up with the same values. At first I did not confront them, when they made comments (about Jew, Hispanics...). But, you could tell that I was uncomfortable about their remarks. However, with my mother's encouragement, I confronted them and their remarks. It does not stop the remarks, but they know that I don't agree with them. I was wondering, what do others do, if they have to deal with this issue.

No offense or anything, but the stereotype question kind of wants me to really find out.

If they are, are there any proven facts about it?

Because my father is Hispanic, but my mom is telling me that I am just Black because of the "one-drop" rule. I think that it is racist, and stupid. What do you think?

and more importantly how they justify that not being ignorant or racist ,

I mean they seem to have this trait more than any other ethnic group in the nation

From living in a hispanic community for years they thought I was automatically the racist becuase I was a gringo,,and they would try to talk down to me whenever they could

Why do they assume as acommunity that whites are generally racist,,,,they are the ones the have the auperiority complex

can anyone relate,,,,,, btw, i love latinos I just don't get thier mentality and ignorance sometimes

Do we live in a bloody nanny state nowadays or what ? I have posted a joke on here and people are going mad at me. Ok I admit a little close to the bone but for godsake lets lighten up !!! I have the feeling that the people complaining are the type that would cancel the Office Christmas decorations or party because you have a member of staff from an 'ethnic minority'

may cause some debate this one but freedom of speech is one of the priveledges we enjoy in the West. I am from the U.K so my views and sense of humour may be different to the Americans on here.

I have only recently discovered the "Philly" accent, and I've become totally obsessed with it. I love it. I, like most other non Americans I'm sure, have always just kind of assumed it was like a New York one. But it's not! It's really different if you really listen to it! But what I'm wondering is where it came from.

I know that this sounds like a dumb question, but I just always hear ppl. say about skinny women stuff like "oh, she's built like a little boy" or "she has a guy-shaped body" and one woman I know said about another woman, who happens to be very thin, "she's so skinny she could be a transvestite". I think being thin is neither masculine nor feminine, it's just a quality that some people can be described as having. I too am thin and am very girly and feminine-looking, but it just seems like people associate being "fat" or voluptious with being womanly, curvy, fertile, etc., and these comments about skinny women make me think "Is skinny masculine to other people"?

I'm so tired of everything being changed! It's bad enough that EVERYTHING needs to be printed in another language because GOD forbid YOU learn ENGLISH, but no our holidays are being stripped away. NO Merry Christmas, No religious songs, No CHRISTMAS trees, Menorahs, or anything that has to do with sprituality. It's bad enough that the media has made the holidays all about spending and getting, but now everyone else whats the same.

I'm for real!!! I my high school we have a German Foreign exchange student, People Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, France, Australia, Germany (like I said), and so many other places. I'm from the south so that helps with the diversity as well, Like with just the white people alone, we have preps, Jocks (Lick cheerleaders, football, soccer etc.), Rednecks, Goth/EMO, loners, stoners, Geeks, Freaks, And the really smart people, The white guys that try to act black. The we have the African-American people, they divide too.........so I guess my question is..........Is it good that my school is so diverse??( I'm from a small town, Like 2,000 people.) Would you have liked to go to a school like this?? What was/is your school like?? So, what do you think of my high school??

Is it okay to have pride in your race, and say forget the other races. Sort of similar to your school football team they just called it team spirit, but you dislike the other team. So is it okay to be racist, would it be race spirit? I dunno what you do you think? I dont feel that Michael Richards should be able to say whatever he wants to say, becuz if he is censored that means I cant say whatever I want to say, and forget censorship. The question is "Is it okay to be racist".
