I recently discovered I very likely have a benign genetic condition called essential penosuria which is likely to make me an Ashkenazi Jew. My ancestors on my mother's side are from Poland but I always was led to believe everyone is Catholic. Can someone educate more on this situation and on Ashkenazi Jews as well? I would love to hear more.

I am an american male with a darker shade of brown shown on my skin. I was raised in a home that not only shunned racism, but I was taught to equally love everyone. This was not something that my environment supported. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, but went to a christian school where only about 4 other students were placed into the same category as me (ethnic). I have dated people of all backgrounds and from different contries. But I fall into the category of those who are offended by the hateful words and don't know why exactly, but if I were to use derogatory slang to offend someone different than me it would feel as if I accomplished something (payback). I'ts sad but true. I have even used the N word in situations to compliment and tear down people who are labeled in the same category as myself. I'ts a childlike mentality that I have in my head." If they stop, then I stop" If there were no KKK, then there would have been no Black Panthers.

My female friend is a little hippie girl and she is wonderful! She has dread locks, and I was just wondering what types of jobs can she get with this look. She really wants to get a decent job, but is not sure her employer will want someone who is a hippie. She showers and bathes, and is very clean, but she loves the freestyle clothes and beads. Hey Yahooers, maybe you can illuminate one of the great Mysteries of the Universe for me: Why do so many straight, hetero males find 2 women together so erotic (I have to plead guilty to the crime myself) and yet I've never met a woman that finds 2 men together anything but a turnoff. This is an interesting gender difference, is it genetic, psychological, cultural, hardwired into us or learned behavior? I've seen this question asked before & never seen a good answer. In my job, meet people from all over the world. A friend of mine is from Russia. His sense of humor is very close to mine (I am American). We enjoy the same jokes in movies and TV. I lived in Japan for 9 years and my 1st wife was from Japan. Despite the fact that the US imports Japan's physical comedy game shows, their humor is very dry. If my ex-wife tried to explain a joke, I was always waiting for the punch-line and never quite got it. In India, they do a lot of physical comedy mixed with music. I like watching British comedies, but don't find them as humorous (or maybe dryer, although still funny) as US humor. I watched the British version of the Office and laughed, but I like the US version better. I'm sure my British counterparts would feel the same about the US version. I enjoy the Red Green show out of Canada too, but again, this had its own flavor of comedy. I just wanted to discuss if anyone else had any experiences with other styles of humor in any other cultures.
