Is it an insult to be asked if you are Jewish if you are Italian? Why?
I've noticed people who are Italian but are asked if they are Jewish (because they "look" Jewish, whatever that means) get really offended by this. Why?

Anyone of Italian or Italian American heritage, do you get asked if you are Jewish (for example if someone doesn't know your name, or if your name isn't obviously Italian)?

Do you get annoyed or angry? If so, why?

I bring this up because my best friend's name is Marcella (pretty obviously Italian) and she always wears a cross. A saleslady (she had given her a credit card) asked her if she was Jewish last week while we were shopping & she freaked out! She kept saying don't they see my cross/ my name, and so on.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why she would be so annoyed and also anyone Italian has this ever happened to you & how did you react.

Thanks and have a great day! Nicole

Are they a scurge on the country, our taxes and the landscape, or does anyone (that isn't one of them) actually think they're a good thing? And does anyone know what they do all day, and why they like their way of life?

I've lived on both east and west coasts and have visited many cities for quite some time (NYC, DC, ATL, MIA, S.F, Oakland, L.A, Seattle, Portland.) My ? is with the population difference between the two coasts, Are black's interests, representation, housing, civil rights, safety, etc being addressed as equally if the numbers were as large as the east coast. Blacks populate less than 7% (i believe) of the west coast, and it seems the disparity between success and achievements of AVERAGE blacks (not actors, entertainers) is greater. Can AVERAGE blacks prosper on the west coast as easily on the east coast?

I don't understand all of the stereotypes of different nationalities. How do they form? Do they come up because of generaliztions? I never understood why there were so many dumb stertypes of people in America.

i had an arguement with my mom's bf: do you think a mexican kid with all white parents[say he was adopted]would he want to act more "white" or be more of a "mexican" like say if he grew up in compton-with more minorities,or like some perfect suburban neighborhood-with more "white" people

Case in point: (I'm black)

I work in a college where there are a diversity of races. When ever I have to go to another office to get something taken care of and it just so happens that I get a black person who has to deal with me and what ever needs to be taken care of I get this "attitude" from him/her like I am wasting their time or something, but you let a white person or some other race come and ask them the same thing and the attitude changes to "nice!" and accomodating. Same thing happens if I go to a grocery store, a mall or anything place that services you.
Why is that? I respect everybody and don't put an "attitude" on anyone like that.
What I'm asking for is the same respect that a black person will give a white person. I'm black too and don't understand this biasness.

or the other way round or totally different?

(I know a lot of marriages are arranged, so it's probably totally different...)

what I'm trying to find out is:
As a woman, would I wait for a man to call me and to write to me first, and then answer? Or would I call/write first?

Because I met a man in Sri Lanka who really likes me but seems to expect me to go after him, and I'm wondering if that's normal? (because in my culture, the man would court the woman and she would respond to that)

Any serious advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!!
