or the other way round or totally different?

(I know a lot of marriages are arranged, so it's probably totally different...)

what I'm trying to find out is:
As a woman, would I wait for a man to call me and to write to me first, and then answer? Or would I call/write first?

Because I met a man in Sri Lanka who really likes me but seems to expect me to go after him, and I'm wondering if that's normal? (because in my culture, the man would court the woman and she would respond to that)

Any serious advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!!!

Wow, thank you so much for your answers! :)

singirl -
yes he has my contact number &
yes it is a love relationship from both sides even if it hasn't been more than telephone and text messages. He used to write and call a lot but now has reduced his initiative and instead of writing and I will reply, he now doesn't write and then asks me why I haven't written and gets upset...
I think your point of what do I want is fantastic - I think it's THE point... maybe he wants to be make sure I really want this...?

Seems like you both don't know what to expect from each other and are waiting for hell to freeze over! Perhaps he has lost your contact number...so why don't you write to him. If he doesn't respond then that is a cue that he wishes to disconnect from you. Alternatively what are your expectation? Do you intend to court him? If not and treat him as any person, then nothing wrong in writing to him....

First of all, the Sri Lankan man is a LOT more shy than you think he is. Second, because you come from a different culture, he will accept it if you break some of the "rules." Third, most Eastern men cannot face rejection, and would rather not make a move than be turned down.

So I'd say, go ahead, take the lead, and go after him. In your case, it's OK.

stick to your culture!...most 3 world countries are male dominated and woman serves at their pleasure.....this culture recognizes natural selection and the woman has the right to breed not with the dominant male, but to her selection, does she want to carry a baby of a male whose personality she detest?.....the fella has to be smart enough to react and show he likes you, and there is no probation for you to show interest too....
