Case in point: (I'm black)

I work in a college where there are a diversity of races. When ever I have to go to another office to get something taken care of and it just so happens that I get a black person who has to deal with me and what ever needs to be taken care of I get this "attitude" from him/her like I am wasting their time or something, but you let a white person or some other race come and ask them the same thing and the attitude changes to "nice!" and accomodating. Same thing happens if I go to a grocery store, a mall or anything place that services you.
Why is that? I respect everybody and don't put an "attitude" on anyone like that.
What I'm asking for is the same respect that a black person will give a white person. I'm black too and don't understand this biasness.

Some people of other races are glad to see a black student. They see that as you at least making an effort to better yourself.
Some blacks have a problem with other blacks doing anything to better themselves, either because they can't or choose not too.
You also have to remember some of these blacks still have that slave mentality they will treat whites better because thats how they think they will get ahead, they see you as just like they see themselves, at the bottom of the totem pole.
It's a shame and thats the biggest problem in the black community. I understand why the young black folks are upset, but taking it out on each other is downright stupid. (Its like the blacks that claim to hate racism but get mad as hell at an interracial couple.)

I feel that a lot of disrepectful black people feel that they are being hassled to do ANYTHING even though they are getting paid for it. Although in the past I have been that person "behind the counter" and I have dealt with some really really disrespectful people so much so that I found myself prejudging customers and expecting the worst from them. I understand that some people work sh*tty jobs that suck, and I know that they feel they have better things to do, but if I approach you with a friendly respectable attitude I kind of expect a drop of kindness from you, despite the color of my skin.

I think that happens because most black people take jobs that they don't really care to do. They just work for the check. Most of them aren't qualified or don't know how to be qualified to work at higher end places. Some of them automatically assume you're going to give them a hard time so prepare themselves to be annoyed, others just have that slave master mentality. I'm also black but i'm also just assuming

I get that too, especially when I have my daughter with me. When I go to the check out line, I don't even get a "Hi, how are you?" they just start scanning my items and tell me how much it is. I consider myself well educated, classy, and non ghetto. I guess they feel like they don't have to put on that act for their own people.

Hmm, weird, is it everyone else in society who is black being rude to you? everyone? really? are you maybe a bit self loathing? Just checking. I don't attribute it to race when other "White" people are rude to me, rather poor manners.
