In a few months time I'm going on holiday with my Dad's side of the family for the first time ever(I only saw him for the second time in living memory about 3 months ago as him and my mum split up when I was young) and he's told me that my Aunty Joanne's a lesbian and that she'd be there as well and the last time anyone from my Mum's side of the family saw her she was 12years old and my Grandma asked how she was and I told her she was a lesbian now and my Grandma laughed at this and at the moment I'm really looking forward to meeting her as you would if you've never seen a member of your family before but I'm also looking forward to meeting her because she's a lesbian as well and I have no idea why and I just find this weird.

Im doing a report on the Holocaust and thought Id have symbols of all the groups that were chosen for extermination in the camps. So far, I have three out of many. The Star of David for Jews, hammer and sicle for communists, and a donkey for democrats. I need symbols for homosexuals (anything other than a rainbow? isnt there a triangle or something?), Gypsies, Jehovas Witnesses, and socialists.

If you have any other groups to add (I know there were many) and have a symbol for them, thatd also be great.

My mother-in-law has mountains of family pictures in boxes and albums - as she is now approaching 90 years, her oldest son is beginning to scan her collections to his computer, and then burning them to CDs, which she can then view on her TV screen!

She is sooooo happy - to be able to view - and then review, at will - so many memories that have gotten dusty, and been forgotten over the years. . .

This is his holiday 'gift' to her . . . and she now plans to give the original photos to her 'family' members as gifts, along with copies of the CDs!

I would like to know how many readers have had a relative pass away in a nursing home. A few months ago I had a relative pass away in a nursing home. Funeral arrangements had been made but to make a story short it took the funeral home four hours to pick up the body. I asked the nursing home if they had a room reserved to place a deceased person until the funeral home arrived. I was shocked when they told me they didn't have any place to put the body. Because of privacy 'issues' they were also not allowed to tell my relative's roommate about the death so I had to inform this other lady there was a dead body in the room. After four hours flies were buzzing around the room. It was a horrible experience. For the past three days I have been calling different elder affairs agencies to complain about this. I get recordings all the time saying they will call me back. Aren't nursing homes required to have a special room for situations like this?

I told him to bring his gf with him and he said "i dont think she should come, what do you think?" and smiled at me. I'm a high schooler now and in my nine years of school, the only things I know about my queer community I've learned from books I get on my own. Every year since sixth grade, due to something the Department of education put up we have to learn about HIV and AIDS because NYC has one of the highest diagnosis rates. However last year, in eight grade, I asked a teacher how LESBIANS can prevent getting HIV/AIDS. She told me that she wasn't allowed by our principal to teach that. When I spoke to the principal she said the DOE wouldn't let her.

I was and still am optimistic, this year that maybe in one of the classes we'd learn something about safe lesbian sex or about the Queer contribution in one of our classes, but it looks like the closest we'll come is having a GSA and my LA teacher letting me teach a few lessons on Oscar Wilde.

Should teachers high school teachers have the option to teach LGBT safe sex and history within the curriculum?
