Some are.
In the U.S. Census, they are under the category of "Hispanic - Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander."
The number of people who put themselves in this group is very small, but it's there.

Racial and ethnic classification in the Philippines is very complicated because of the many ethnic and indigenous groups there, and is determined by self-reporting, which is considered to be more accurate than that of an observer. If a Filipino considers him/herself to be Hispanic, given that they have Spanish heritage, then they are.

Most people are not understanding your question. I do. Filipinos are not classified as Hispanic for the same reason that Indians (on the Subcontinent) aren't classified as "Children of Britain" (or whatever it might be). While the colonial power in question had a lasting influence, the underlying culture and ethnicity is still much stronger.

Um.. basically, they are Hispanic. They have some kind of history with Spain... i think Spain tried to conquer the Philippines back in those days. Lots of Filipinos have Spanish last names too.. there's a lady at my work she is 100% filipina her last name is Fernandez..... I worked with another girl donig promotions and she was also filipina.. and had some spanish blood and had the european features.. the pointed nose and not the typical flat nose most asians have (not trying to offend anyone there). and there are others too. So, yeah basically.

Hispanic people are from Latin America or Mexico. The Philippines are a group of Islands near China. They are nowhere close to one another. They speak different languages. They have different cultures. That's like asking why white people aren't classified as black.

the phillipines is in the south pacific, it's part of asia. just because spain invaded and mated doesn't make them hispanic. it just makes one of their languages spanish. sort of like the united states. i am not hispanic even though spanish is becoming a popular language here.
in that case, my brother in law, a chamorro would qualify as hispanic
