The sin is in not being who you were born to be.

I feel that I have enough of a sense of morality and ethics that I can make my own mind up as to whether something is wrong. I don't need a three (or more) thousand year old set of fairy tales to tell me that spending my life with the person I love or eating shellfish is doing right or wrong.

As to whether being gay is a sin, that is not mentioned anywhere in the bible - the only references to homosexuality are homosexual acts. Remember that those people who say that being gay is a sin believe the Earth was created in 7 days, that the flood killed off the dinosaurs, virgin birth of a male child (as opposed to parthenogenesis), that it's OK to sell your sisters in to slavery or offer them as sex toys to save men from homosexual acts and a whole host of other amazing things that defy logic and common sense.

That people can believe these things as absolute truth (i.e that they actually happened) means that it probably isn't the best move to rely in their judgment of whether being gay is a sin or not.

It depends on your interpretation of the Bible. I don't believe in Christianity, or the Bible so I don't consider a sin, however that's my opinion. There's no evidence that people choose to be gay, it's not voluntary, so I don't understand how it could be a sin. It would be like saying because you have red hair, your sining, which is ridiculous. I did not choose to be gay and I am definitely not ashamed of it.

Others above me claim that gays choose to be gay; yet they are not gay, so how would they know? Wouldn't a gay person have a little more credibility on the "Is it a choice?" debate.

Plus recent studies have proved thousands of other animals are gay, even when they have the option to mate with the opposite sex, they still choose the same sex. We are practically genetically equivalent to some of these animals (Humans share more than 90% of their DNA with Apes). It's not like homosexuality is only seen among humans, it's seen in nature, and it's just the way it is. Animals don't have pre-conceived ideas of who they're supposed to mate with, as humans do.

In an age when sex is everywhere (50% of all internet sites are sex-related), and adultery is rampant among singles and married people in all cultures in the world, and strange and sometimes sick new ideas for new ways of sexually gratifying oneself are spread freely, it might be strange to hear what i have to say here:

Feeling deep love and compassion for someone of your own sex is not only no sin, but extremely healthy and gratifying (the Apostles loved Jesus), but channelling this love into sexual activity is not only not as gratifying, it actually destroys that love, because converting any inner emotion into physical sensual emotions subjects it to the physical world where time (Chronos) rules.

Compassion for people of the same sex, when nurtured and turned into friendships, not only last longer, but opens up a variety of new emotion like deep emphaty (sometimes along with telepathic tendencies). Friendships of this type, last extremely long, and you will always have those friends around when you need them.

Actually, it is a lot easier to have emphaty with members of the same gender, because you can understand them easier, and the sexual impulse is normally weaker. Use this chance and build friendships, instead of wasting the emotions by gratifying yourselves for a few minutes at a time. Do not mistake pure love, for sexual craving, and discard the belief that they always have to go together.

In Love and Light.

It depends upon your belief if its a sin or not, in christian it is taught that being gay is a sin for God does not create 3rd sex... But what matter is how you live your life and what you believe.... It is not a sin to feel that way...

Some young people do experiment, but being a lifetime gay person is not a choice.
