When I first saw this it overwhelmed me with emotion.
Not many people will remember Paul Robeson that is why I have put it here in Senior Citizens, but this young lady must be very much familiar with his music to be able to do this so well.

Do you think that this is really going to change anything for the better? Do you feel that society is regressing and not progessing? Is it worth it to paricipate?

On a part time basis I sell bridal dresses and lingerie, and I am a male. I use the name Jodie in my communications because people seem comfortable talking with a woman about what are, at the end of the day, very feminine things. Anyway this came about because I found it put customers off if they knew me by my male name, don't know why, but it seemed that way to me. So I started using a feminine name and it seems to work. I am not misleading people I hope, because when they meet me they can see I am male. So is this okay? I actually use 'Jodee' because I think it is between 'Jody' (male) and 'Jodie' (female). anyway I think it is a pretty name and it is helping to grow business and people seem happy to deal with us. But is it okay to use another name, especially one so obviously feminine?

My friend and her girlfriend would like some advice on how to go about getting married. One lives in TX and the other RI. They will prob end up living in TX. I think MA would be the closest for them to get married in (the TX one can come to RI and they can both go to MA to do it). How do they go about doing this? Once they are married in a state that they do not live in, does their state have to acknowledge the marriage? I heard that not all states do. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

No I'm not gay, and no I don't wanna look, it's just something that I never understood, and this seemed to be the perfect forum to ask it, as my identity and those answering are not known.

Do you worry that future generations of LGBT people will just take for granted all that has happened for their cause in the years before?

Yesterday I spent 15 minutes finding my choir folder, set it down to put on my coat and went to choir. I got there and asked my daughter where my folder was - it was still on the kitchen table!!!

(Unfortunately, I don't think this is a function of age with me!)

I have a colleague who is married who confided in me that he has developed a strong desire for redheaded men, and no other types. He still loves his wife and is otherwise straight, but has told me that since his late twenties, redheaded guys really turn him on. Not that I blame him!

My Son-in-law used to force my 2 Grandsons to finish their huge dinners as they were growing up often resulting in one of them literally gagging. It used to upset me a lot.
Now, they are both strapping bean poles! That's the only way I can describe an 18 and 19 year old who are both over 6 foot but weigh slightly less than they should.
I actually thought they would grow up to be fat! How wrong can you be?

If we know it is not okay to be racist, then why cant the connection be made that it is not okay to hate gay people?A school kid says he's not racist but he hates gays. And lesbians are hot...What are the youths of today learning from these oppressive religious radicals? If the boy goes through life loving lesbians,he wont ever get layed,so this is a new breed of nonosexual...Ha!Ha!Anyway,what is the difference between hate of black people and hate of gay people? We got over one.Why cant we get over the other in spite of the religious rhetoric? Are we THAT oppressed to be told it is against the "will of God" and we HAVE TO believe it and continue to suffer hatred because of it?

The Polite Way to Pee

During one of her daily classes a teacher trying to teach good manners, asked her students the following question: "Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?"

Michael said, "Just a minute I have to go pee."

The teacher responded by saying, "That would be rude and impolite. What about you Peter, how would you say it?"

Peter said, "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."

That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Johnny, can you use your brain for once and show us your good manners?"

"I would say: Darling, may I please be excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope you'll get to meet after dinner."

The teacher fainted!

We were talking about this in history class recently. At what point in American history did African-Americans begin to give their children names with uniquely African-American flavour (think "Jamelia" or "Shontavius"), rather than traditionally Anglo-European names like "Mary" or "Charles?"

Respectful replies only, please.
