I took some ladies to the submarine races-At least we lived near the ocean and there was actually a submarine base about 30 miles south of us. We never seemed to see any , though. I had an old Chevy wagon called The Mayflower, because that where the little puritans came across.

I was asked to go to the submarine races in High School. The guy told me it would be dark at the beach. I couldn't figure out how you would see the submarines, then. I asked several people about it, but they just laughed and told me more stuff to confirm the story. I decided not to go. Smart burnette, I was! LOL

LOL, LOL! Slk I thought that was one my first boyfriend had
made up. He and a friend, invited me and my girlfriend to go
for a walk to the local park one evening to see them. We were
so excited to see this race that we'd never heard was planned. Naturally we thought they were toy boats, and they
would be in the park swimming pool.
Naturally when we arrived that very cool evening, and wearing warm coats, there wasn't another soul in sight. The
lights were on around the pool and pool house, which made
us think something was going on, when we saw them in the
distance as we were nearing the park. Then the guys said,
"It doesn't look like they've started yet. So why don't we sit
over here and wait for the crowd to arrive?" So we sat and
waited and talked among ourselves. Well about 15 min. later,
my friend and I were aware something was wrong. And es-
pecially so when our dates, tried to start making out sessions
with us. I finally had to ask if this had all been a 'put on', since
nothing was happening in the park. And they had a big laugh
and told us it was a joke. Or a ruse to get us over there for a
make out session. Well it was too cold for my friend and I to
want to stay out any longer, and told them so. And adding
that we wanted to go home. And so they did. My friend and I
actually had been looking forward to watching a boat race.
LOL. But we were good natured about the 'joke' tho there
wasn't anything really to laugh about, as the boys thought.
And that joke was good for one time only. I've only heard
reference to "Submarine Races" one time in print, until now.
So I guess it was a wide spread thing after all, and not just
one young guys' invention. So thanks for sharing your trivia!

We had a special parking area near the river for submarine races. Spent many an exciting evening there.

Yes, I visited the ever so popular "submarine race" site but even though I'm a blonde, I had already heard that there were no races. Duh! This spot was a great place to look down at Lake Erie & the harbor lights. Yes, I DID notice the beautiful view. ~lol~

No.

But about 8 years or so ago I was fishing in a channel in Florida with exhubby. Suddenly the water in front of me started boiling like the Loch Ness Monster was coming up. Scared the heck outta me. As something rose, I thought I was about to see one heck of a whale. It was a submarine. Took about 20 minutes for my heart rate to return to normal.

Yes, but I never could see those submarines from the top of that dark hill. Come to think of it, I couldn't even see any water. LOL

ha ha, no never been.
I always wanted to own my own submarine, especially when I lived in the Florida Keys. The clarity of the water was unbelievable. I could have Captained my own sub for Charter.
