If tyou can, go to a sleep disorder clinic and get diagnosed. Perhaps you have sleep apnea which can be dangerous as you are never totally rested because of stopping breathing and gasping for breath,

I have NO problems with my snoring....but everyone else does! Strange! I swear, I have never heard my self snore, so I am inclined to think that others lie alot around here. OF course, when I go to bed with the other, but wake up alone...there may be a hint there! I am told I have sleep apnia...I stop breathing and, coincidentaly, snoring at the same time! ....then after a minute or so, after everyone in the house is sure I have died, I start in again. (so I am told, but still, I have not noticed this.) IF I sleep on my side, no snoring..if on my back...like thunder. And I can no longer sleep on my side, so it is a matter of always having a guest room with an equally comfrotable bed in it in this household. That is how snoring is handled...but still, I deny, deny, deny that I snore. Peace and love, Phil

Well, Goldwing, you said you were up all night....did you snore last night? No? See, there's your proof - you didn't hear a thing!

If not related to sleep apnea, doctors will tell you if you're overweight that a weight loss will help. There are no products on the market that truly work. There are surgeries that can be performed, and there is a dental appliance that can be made that keeps your jaw pulled forward. Basically, you need a spare room for "the others" to go to.

Oh, YES!!

Both me and my husband snore.

When the kids or the grand kids sleep over, they accuse us of have snoring match.

When we all get together, it's a party just sitting around laughing about our snoring.

I'm a night person, Thank God!

My husband is a day person, so we spend most of our time sleeping in shifts. He goes to bed after the news and I go to bed about 3 am.

Because of my disability, we have a baby monitor in our bedroom so I can call his name when I need him. It's a little more convenient this way, although, when I'm awake I hear him snoring loud and clear. It works both ways.

Because I sleep until noon, our visitor's on occasion have the opportunity of hearing me snore.

He keeps me company with his SNORE. while I'm on yahoo. What I'm trying to say is he is snoring right now and will continue to do so for 3 more hours.

Before I retired, I decided to record his snore as evidence and played it for him. We had a good laugh about it.

I took my handy little recorder to staff meeting and for a laugh played it for my staff members. They loved it because they know him well and knows of his great sense of humor.

Later that day, I went shopping at Walmart and while checking out, at the check stand, I reached into my purse for my check book and unknowingly bumped the on switch of the recorder and my husbands snore begin to play loud and clear.

Now, that wasn't easy to explain, with the long line of customers waiting behind me.

There are so many funny stories to tell.

It's my opinion that the only way to cope with snoreing is to just have fun with it or it could drive you mad or to the divorce court.

Thanks for the great question. It's been fun reading all the good answers.

Snore strips do work to a certain extent, but are very expensive here in Canada

I would recommend seeing a doctor if this is something new. Steaming yourself before bed - put hot hot water in the sink, a few drops of eucalyptus oil in it.

Also could you be a little dehydrated? I know drinking before bed means getting up to the bathroom but I believe this also contributes to snoring, as does being over tired.

I snore if I am totally exhausted and fall into a deep deep sleep.

Goldwing if you have sleep apnea should you have some kind of alarm or something? People can and do die from that and it would be a TERRIBLE loss if you did

Well, of course weight is usually a contributing factor, and we all know the cure for that. There are lots of folk remedies, but most don't work that well. When I traveled as a pipefitter and was rooming with a guy that snored, I would give him a big wet kiss at bedtime and he would stay awake all night making sure it didn't happen again. I slept like a baby. Might not work as well if it's your hubby. peace

If I sleep any position but my left side I will wake up the dead snoring, I can feel the left side of my throat relax as I start to fall asleep, if it goes toward itself then no snores, otherwise it closes off my air way and snort n snore n sit up to breathe again. No big bucks for masses of surgery so I tough it. I can wake myself up with my nose being bammed by my upper lip. Pretty sight ain't it. ha! ;0) Note: Just had a friend go thru all the sleep tests, she was told her tongue is to large for her mouth and slips back when she is sleeping deeply, solution, sleep on your side.

I have Sleep Apnea, you can die in your sleep of a heart attack, makes the voice sound hoarse, causes or makes Acid Reflux worse and-- a person can fall asleep anywhere, which includes: DRIVING.
The Physician makes patients sign a paper stating,"No driving unattended, or long trips."
The test requires 1-2 nights, testing during sleep.

Had horrible nightmares and went to see a Psychiatrist. He's the one that recommended the test but any Physician can.

Now I sleep like a baby-and don't feel rested without using C-PAP.

My wife complained about my snoring. But I told her that she snored also. She disagreed with me. So one night I taped her snoring. And then the next night I turned the tape up loud and turned it on. She woke up and shook me and told me I was snoring. I reached down and picked up the tape recorder and showed her it was her snoring. She didn't talk to me for a week after that, but she did snore to me. LOL
