When I was a kid, our scout troop was going to be treated to a snipe hunt. Well, not being the great outdoors type, I wanted a bit more info on this hunt, my stepfather started laughing, and I knew I was about to be had...I kept quiet, went to the hunt, did a lot of standing , and when asked why I wasn't looking for snipe, I simply replied, "the rest of the troop has been sniped enough, I don't think I need to join in." The troop leader started laughing and that ended the Snipe hunt. I wasn't that popular at the next meeting, but everyone got over it quickly...well, as quickly as 13 year old boys can get over being made fools of , at any rate. They blamed ME! Hmmmm somethings never change. Love to all, Phil

Never been. I laugh when people talk about snipe hunting. You always have a bunch of idiots chime in and act like the animal is nonexistent. A snipe is a bird which actually has a season for hunting them in the state of Alabama.

Always wanted to go coon hunting with my Uncle. I fed the coonhounds, helped him look after them. They were stinky though because he fed them fish scraps from the local market. Anyway, every Summer while visiting I'd ask to go with him and he said,"You have to get me a Snipe first." Had to use a burlap sack and a long stick and go find one in the dark, had to take my Nincompoop-cousin with me. He knew I was afraid of the dark and my cousin Stuey-all these years later-the same.

I remember people doing that, but I don't remember actually going myself. I think I learned what it was, before I ever got taken snipe hunting. lol I never went 'cow tipping' either, but I remember others said they did.

Yes! My parents took me and my sisters one year. We stood there with our garbage bags yelling "here snipe - here snipe - here snipe"! Then my dad would throw a rock into one of the bags and we'd yell "I got one!", and they would just laugh when we looked in the bag. I did that to my kids too .... fun times!

it was a tradition back years ago when i was in the boy scouts. all the new kids were taken snipe hunting as an initiation to the troop. you were privileged if you were picked to hold the sack to catch them in. of course we just left them in the woods until they figered it out.

Well, I was asked to but I was afraid to go off in the woods at night. I just said "No thanks" and that made me look like a smart cookie. A girlfriend of mine did go and told me later that one of the boys was a bit "grabby".
I was lucky to be too scared because I was way too naive to handle anything else!

No, but everytime we got a rookie plumber on site, we'd send em to the shop to get a fallopian tube. Worked every time.
