No I'm not gay, and no I don't wanna look, it's just something that I never understood, and this seemed to be the perfect forum to ask it, as my identity and those answering are not known.

Some men have weak streams and dribble. It is better to sit down in those cases. I like urinals because of the convenience, but sometimes I will use a stall if it is crowded and there are no barriers, just out of modesty. I really do hate embarassing others! :-)

Different people have different reasons, I am sure. I have no hang ups about using a urinal, but I've known men that do. While I've never asked them why they use a stall instead of a urinal, there are any number of reasons why they might.

Modesty: Some men might not be comfortable disrobing, even partially, in front of other people.

Fear: Some men might be afraid they might risk being seen looking at another man or being looked at. I don't think such fear is rational or justified, but I don't have to agree with it to acknowledge it's existence.

Medical: Some men might have a medical need to sit when they urinate. Possible reasons might be a deformed urethra, a colostomy (which might fit more properly under a medical reason for modesty), or even a penile piercing like a 'prince albert'.

Sometimes they need the privacy to do their business. There was this crazy movie a few decades back, where a guy wanted to steal a train. The train stopped at a station and the engineer went to the john and the thief stood across from him and stared at him. The poor guy couldn't go (a feeling I've distinctly felt when there is a line). So the thief left and the engineer could then do his business--as did the thief, hopping on the train and taking off with it.

Sometimes they have urinary problems. I have an enlarged prostate and it affects the flow, which sometimes sort of sprays rather than squirts, so I sometimes need to use the pot to pee.

lol....I'm one of those men. I have anxiety when using public restrooms. I think it stems from my insecurity of my manhood....which seems odd. I also think that I want to avoid the temptation of checking out another man's willie. I know that all men look. We use it as a way to size up the competition. I think it's perfectly normal and NOT GAY to simply look at a penis.........But this all boils down to the fact that I simply can not pee while standing next to a stranger.
SO...I use the stalls. I have little to no anxiety when in a closed private area. I have always been this way. I tried about a year ago to over come this, but...no luck.

Because of the prostate problem it's embarassing not being able to go right away. And that's why I like the privacy. And also i can't last much more than an hour when out so I use public bathrooms a lot.

They are probably shy, or embarrassed. Some men are really conscious about their "size" and if it's small they don't want other men to see. Others may just prefer to use a toilet.

I used to seek out toilets instead of urinals... cuz I'd get "pee shy" if I had to stand there with a bunch of other people... and then I'd get anxious if I wasn't peeing right away and that would make it even harder....it's the pressure... of the pee performance...lol

some times I just don't want to be brushing shoulders with another bloke when I'm having a slash. Not that I get paranoid he's having a sly look at mr. winky, it's just nice to have some elbow room.

It's just that I want a bit of privacy. Why do I have to share my peeing experience with the rest of the world?

I personally cannot go if there is someone standing right next to me. I especially do not like it when they actually want to have a conversation. What is up with that?
