Do you think that this is really going to change anything for the better? Do you feel that society is regressing and not progessing? Is it worth it to paricipate?

Im not saying that I am not going to participate because I most likely won't buy anything on that day. I'm just wondering how everyone else feels about it.

No I don't think its going to change anything. And yes I do believe society is regressing, look at the people in this world, look at some of these retarded answers you're getting. We live in a country full of idiots. I say go for it, if African Americans think its going to change something, go for it. We shouldn't let what other people think stop us. And who said this was holiday? White holiday? black holiday? WTH some of yall need to grow up!

I think that it is a good idea. Alot of people do not realize exactly how much money is spent by African Americans, and they do not realize that the impact would be great. Most people believe that the majority of blacks are all on welfare and don't have jobs or money to spend. When that is not the case at all. The media has portrayed blacks as being this lazy culture who just wants to have babies and receive welfare benefits and such, when that is not the whole truth. Yes, there are blacks that are satisified with being where there are, but for everyone one of them that are like that there are at least 5 other blacks who are working and doing the right things they need to get out of that situation. So all in all, I support it. If it goes over well and I hope it does, that will actually make the government and everyone else wake up and see that we are a force just like everyone else.

Well, when I heard this on the radio it was said to purchase everything that Monday before November 2nd, which is October 29th, and not spend anything that whole week.

Yes, it will have a great impact because Blacks alone spend around $700 billion a year. How come we have not seen that money? Like the lady said above, if we take the money we are spending and put it to good use...we can really prosper.

Unfortunately, there are Blacks who have "made it" or just received a raise, or bought a new car, etc. and they think this idea is stupid ...as they are afraid of losing their precious little possessions.

---

I am going to do it anyway...nothing wrong with saving money.

People fail to look at the big picture of this idea.

We could really shape our government the way want by doing such things. Sad...ppl r so clueless.

Honestly I think our attention would be better spent designating 2008 the year of no black non-marital sex. Our leaders are so worried about our external issues they totally ignore the internal ones that we have total control over and which actually cause most of our problems. To answer your question though, I'll sort of be participating since I won't be in the country, I wouldn't participate if I were here and I don't think it will do much if any good.

Didn't California do this for an hour or so just last week! I am thinking that it uses more electricity to turn thing on than what would be used if things were left on.

it is of no consequence if on the 3rd we shop twice as much. the larger issue is utilizing money to send others to college, to build things for ourselves and limit the necessity for hand outs from others. pay your tithes, help those less fortunate and try to put some money aside in savings; that would be a better plan of action for us all.
