How do most people become straight?

I'm not being a smarty or a meany, but the answers are the same, and science doesn't know the answer to it, even though there are some theories behind it.

I won't go into the genetics thing either because, while there is some compelling evidence for it, there is no proven answer to it.

Mandbturner.
I don't really believe that it's smart to use the Bible in an argument that is not among Christians. It's pointless.
That said, should you choose to use every post as a chance for you to witness, "read the book of James" doesn't suffice. You have done less than the bare minimum. Pasting the specific scripture that you wish to refer to would be a better way of going about it. Considering that many people don't actually own a Bible, since many people don't believe in it.

There has always been a debate surrounding this question. One theory is that people are born with their sexual orientation. All foetus's are female for a very short period of time in the uterus. Then, if it is a boy, the hormone testosterone is secreted and it begins to develop male genitalia and features. The theory is that if the feotus does not develop with enough testosterone, then it will be born with more feminine sexual preferences. If it is a girl, it may subjected to too much testosterone and be born with masculine sexual preferences.

Others would argue that sexuality is an environmental feature of a person; nurture rather than nature. They say that a child's experiences when they are very young determine their eventual sexuality. This belief often goes hand in hand with the idea that homosexuality can be "cured".

You are nominated by someone who has a full term gay card. Then you have to submit an essay stating why you want to be and your intentions about being gay. After that it goes to the committee and then if they approve your reasons. You have to go before them and show that you mean what you wrote and be tested over things from the Gay Bible. So after you prove yourself to them, as well as answer questions from the Gay Bible, if they approve, you are on a 90 trial period. After 90 days if you prove to everyone that you are 100% gay, then you are given a full time gay card. Although I think you have to be gay a year before you can nominate someone else...

Oh wait... you are born gay, that's how you become gay. ;)

Edit: WHAT?! No one taught me to be gay, I didn't choose to be, and I was NOT molested as a child! But does this mean then that EVERY straight person was molested by some persusive straight person, or taught how to be straight?

Born Gay, as Gay as the wind blows
As Gay as the grass grows
Born Gay to follow your heart

Live Gay and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Stay Gay, where no walls divide you
You're Gay as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born Gay, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born Gay

People do not become gay, they are gay.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is linked to biology and genetics.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.

A 2005 study reported genetic scans showing a clustering of the same genetic pattern among gay men on three chromosomes - chromosomes 7, 8, and 10. The regions on chromosome 7 and 8 were associated with male sexual orientation regardless of whether the man got them from his mother or father. The regions on chromosome 10 were only associated with male sexual orientation if they were inherited from the mother.

A study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Researchers found extreme differences between women who had gay sons and women who did not.

Another 2006 scientific study said that researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, but the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families. The older-brother effect was constant regardless of whether the men were raised with natural, adopted or stepbrothers. It also didn't matter if they weren't raised with their biological mothers, which shows that environment is not a factor.

An enormous number of "gay" people are really suffering folk. Many have been abused as children, which complicates greatly their selection of role models and skews their validations of what they can consider "normal".

Then there are those who develop fetishes and appetites that drive them from the traditional set of norms. Recently there was news of a church pastor that was privately practicing his fetishes when the family was gone--bondage gear, rubber suits, and something up his rear end. You can read about it at the smoking gun's website. He was hetero, but some of the things that turned him on distinctly deviated from all else that seemed normal.

I recall several that propositioned me as partners simply because they developed an apetite for things oral and their respective wives weren't interested in it. Most of the "gay" crowd that comes to me either is simply doing it because they are in need of a partner at the moment, or are mad at me because I'm a hetero that challenges the "born that way" mantra.

Very little of our lives is inate, preprogrammed in. We learn almost everything we are and do. Almost every "gay" I've talked to, and I've talked to many, have distinct stories of learning to be what they have become, almost always (with a few exceptions) with a good deal of teaching from a very empathetic, caring, and persuasive "gay".

I think it's a little sad to label people in that way,
I think that Love is something that can surpass gender in more ways than one.
Romantic love I believe should be a natural thing between 2 people, their sex, race, age, etc is only a secondary aspect.

I really think that a person is almost born gay. I can't imagine any other way for the person to 'become' gay.

They are born that way; they don't become gay.

There are some people that believe that homosexual behavior is a chemical disorder. This is currently an unproven claim so ignore it, at least for now.

We study very hard in school and even get a degree when we graduate from straight to gay! It costs a lot of money though and not everyone can afford it.
