I hear this all the time “the black community was shocked at another black-on-black killing”, or “A spokesman for the Asian community said…..”.

To me, one camp is saying “just accept us as black / white / Hispanic / Asian – one big melting pot” (fine), but then we have another camp saying “The black community needs to have more rights-to .(whatever it is)…”

Can I get some idea as to what is going on here.
a)Do we really want to ignore the skin colour thing?
b)Are these constant mentioning of “communities” re-enforcing the idea of racial segregation or are they making genuine advances to ignore our skin colour
c)Do we just hang onto the idea that someone’s race DOES make a difference only to perpetuate artificial differences?
d)WHO is driving the definition of these “communities” – the media or the people involved, or both?
e)Is there a WHITE community that I should be made aware of (yes yes, I’ve heard about the BNP, neo-nazis, KKKs – spare me the joke)
Educate me here.

After their pathetic and unpatriotic APEC stunt where in another country a sniper would have shot the idiot, isn't it time they were charged and jailed ? What if their next stunt results in a death ?

ok,so ive seen much of those gender related stuff here.i would just like to find out guys,if youll be given a chance to change genders in a day but you're limited to only 3 choices, what would you choose?

FEMALES:
1) a man with brains, not much looks, fairly muscular but had the ability to give birth?
2)a man who is strong, very muscular, really handsome but had an iq of a 10 yr old child?
3)a man who wasnt even fair looking, just enough brains but can make millions?

MALES
1)a woman who had the the curves of a goddess (natural boobs included obviously,he he) but with the looks & intelligence of ugly betty?
2) a woman with just the right proportions(sadly not well endowed)&with the beauty of a hollywood star but had the strength of a weightlifter?
3)a woman who had a nearly to over 200 kgs body but talks with sense & earns more than anyone can imagine in their lifetime?
before anyone get offended, let me remind you this is JUST a question about choices, not an insult to anyone.

Rule 8: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 9: Doing your best may well satisfy your Mommy and Daddy, but the rest of the world will be completely unimpressed.

Rule 10: If your social life is more important than your commitment to the work you choose, you should be prepared to eat irregularly and sleep outdoors.

Why are so many things these days degrading to women???
Like the adds on the internet almost all the ones with people in them have women with big boobs, pretty much all the rap and hip-hop songs are talking about women and there ***'s and boobs ( i mean i like hip-hop and rap but the words are horrible). Lots of computer games, if they aren't racing or shooting people have girls with boobs and little skimpy clothes
and online chat rooms were you have a person the girls have giant boobs and there are lots of sluty clothes you can wear Its just stupid and I wanted to know if any one agrees with me because i was talking to some people i know and they didn't.

My friend has black hair, yet whenever she forgets something or makes a mistake she says "I had a blonde moment"... I get so irritated! Is it "fair" for anyone but a blonde to call their 'moment' a "blonde moment"

I'm light skin and she's dark and the look that other blacks gives us whenever we go out in public ranges from just staring to pure disgust, especially from light skinned black women. Why are we so caught up on shade as a race? I also had a conversation with some of the blacks at my job and all the guys said they'll NEVER date a women who's darker than them. My girl also says she wishes she was lighter. Don't they know that we all are black when it boils down to it?

As I stated in my last question, I was hit on by a really obese guy and I told him a few things that arn't true. Would you have believed this story?

I told him I was straight, 17 years old and I graduated from high school early. My excuse for being in the club was that I was going to perform drag and I wanted to see some queens. He asked me.. you straight and you are performing drag? I said I was. I told him that I had a really good friend that came out to me as lesbian and that changed my views on gay people. I went out with her and her friends all the time to other clubs. I saw the queens and thought it would be fun.. so as a one day thing, I would be doing drag.

Would you have believed that? He did!

Where are the Real Men?
-------------------------

On a recent flight, a plane passes through a severe storm. The
turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when one wing is
struck by lightning. One woman in particular loses it. Screaming, she
stands up in the front of the plane. "I'm too young to die," she
wails. Then she yells, "Well, if I'm going to die, I want my last
minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there ANYONE on this plane who
can make me feel like a WOMAN?"

For a moment, there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own
peril. They all stared, riveted, at the desperate woman in the front
of the plane.

Then a man from Montana stands up in the rear of the plane. He is
gorgeous: tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He
starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt...one
button at a time.

..No one moves.

..He removes his shirt.

..Muscles ripple across his chest.

..She gasps...

..He whispers:

"Iron this, and get me something to eat...."

I'm 24, and up til about a year or so ago I found myself being attracted to women. I thought of myself as being straight all this time until then. Even now, I'm still mostly attracted to guys, and I don't think I want to ever be in a relationship with a woman, but sometimes I fantasize about them. I don't know if it's because I'm seeing it more in the media, or because a lot of guys say it's a turn on, or what it is. What do you think? Do you think I'm bi? bi curious? or still perhaps straight? I'm kinda confused!

Whenever the topic of slavery/effects on society comes up and everyone gets to arguing, there's always that one guy that comes out and says: "Well, your people enslaved whites X-thousand years ago, so I don't want to hear any more excuses."

What does that have to do with anything?

That's like me saying: "Well, your people enslaved blacks 150 years ago, so I don't want any more excuses..."

*stretches out up-turned palm*

"...where are my reparations? I'd like 40 acres and a mule, please." And we've all been through this argument before, so I don't need to elaborate.

But it's just weird, how some people jump right back on the same X-thousand-year-old crap, as if US slavery was some sort of judgment or "just desserts" for stuff that went on before Jesus was born. You're not supposed to use ancient history as an argument to complain about the discussion of fairly recent history...right?

What's up with that?

"I-I-I-I-I look at all those lonely people." (violins kick in at this point)da-da-da .. da-da, da-da, "Father McKensie went to the church" ........ and did something or other, I can't remember. Who were the other people mentioned in that song?
I think that this is one of the Beatles better songs - they had some that were good, and some that weren't so good. But I'm no music expert.

I have seen it written of the Seniors Group that we are close knit. I sincerely hope that is true for a number of reasons other than that we are exclusive.

Lets be real, We know it‘s true!! Too often the best answer in this group is chosen more for the popularity of the answerer than for the quality of the answer. When I vote for a best answer I usually find that I am in agreement with the majority of voters. Amazing.

I have also observed that the askers who chose their own best answer will most often chose an answer that reinforces their already formed opinions.

From this day forth I will put all may questions out for vote. I believe that will remove any appearance of bias and help create a level playing field that welcomes diverse and interesting answerers.

What do you think?

I look at some pics of my parents and grandparents at my current age, 56. I am extremely critical of myself, but gosh! I look so much better than the rest of the my family at the same age.

Maybe it's the new fangled face creams! (And NOT smoking!) Or an easier life?

I am currently on Social Security....Disability. I know that I am allowed to make up to $900 a month and still receive benefits but......I have a chance to work 10 hours a week....not substantial activity and no where near the $900 a month limit. I would like people who are currently on SSDI and working to let me know if this at ANY way will make SS investigate me and forfeit my benefits? I am not even sure I can do the job but would like to try. I know SS encourages people to work....but do not want to chance losing my benefits. I need reassurance from people who have done this with no problem.....or any SSDI experts.....thank you in advance.

I was about 35. I started driving late, and I went to take the eye exam at MVA. I was told to read the letters. I told the person that they needed to adjust the screen that displayed the letters before I could read them. He nonchalantly looked at me without blinking, and asked when was the last time I got my eyes checked. I insisted that I had 20/20 vision. I was wrong and needed distance glasses. When I put them on I never realized what I was missing. I could see clearly!!!
