My friend told me she was bi when she was 14. Then a few years later when we were 16 she said she thinks she is a lesbian. Now we are 18 and she is back to saying she is bi. If being gay is not a choice then why does she keep on flip flopping around like this?

This is the most inane opinion board I've ever seen. What happened to the REAL message threads on yahoo that used to attract adults?

I am a black women married to a white man and we have two beautiful children. Recently I was asked what my children were. I told them they are both black and white. I was then told that they are what their father is and that is the way society will see them. I don't see it this way because if that was the case, my husbands grandparents will not have refused them so much. So, where does that leave me? Am I to tell my children they are considered white and leave it at that? Or am I to deprive them of their african american culture all together? My husband doesn't think of these things he hides from them in hope that the stares and fingers pointing will just go away. I do not want my children to be treated any different than any other child. It is not fair, I am not naive I know life is not fair but we are all human beings aren't we?

Hello, I am a lesbian women in a relationship. Me and my partner have been together for years upon years. And we have a few pets. We have always referred to our pets as our children and loved them very much. Our beautiful golden retriever has died but thank God, the poor thing did not suffer. Anyhow, we our both very heartbroken at the loss of our baby. My girlfriend is very upset and is running wild with a horrible idea. Her uncle is a taxidermist and she has taken the dog to be stuffed. She wants to "keep her forever". This really bothers me for obvious reasons, it's really creepy. Now, she is so grief stricken but so am I and she has already dropped the dog's body off. How can I ever so gently talk her out of it?

"do you have a girlfriend"?
answer: "no, i have a boyfriend."???
For lesbians the answer is obviously: "do you have a boyfriend"???

Do you think the excuse: "no one needs to know about my sexuality" is just an "excuse"???

I was just watching Bill O'Reilly & he had someone from GLAAD on there to apologize for calling a lesbian gang the wrong name. Is that just made up garbage or is there really such a thing as a lesbian gang? He said that 1 gang in Memphis that consisted of 4 lesbians beat a guy nearly to death, but it just doesn't sit right with me, I think I would have heard about gay gangs & I never have

I've noticed when we in the uk ask a question, sometimes our expressions seem to be misunderstood. Amongst the answers you see people ask "what does that mean" So I think it would be a good idea if we all swapped an expression to share with others.
My contribution is from the uk.
A minger or minging is something or someone not very attractive.
Bangers can be sausages or fireworks
F*gg*t is a kind of meatball made from liver
F*g is a slang term for a cigarette
I believe these last two items are offensive in the States, so I hope I have not caused offence. They are very innocent words in the uk and the reason I thought of this question in the first place.
Thanks for taking part in this one, I'm looking forward to learning something new. x
btw, when I previewed this q it wouldn't accept those two f words, I had to remove the vowels, so this tells me it must be offensive somewhere!! so I'm sorry

Some people just don't understand. Flipping through channels for the most part all you see is white people, so why complain? Some people even go so far that they say that there should also be a WET. There are a couple of those, they're just cleleverly masked as CMT (there are black country singers and I have yet to see some on there), VHI (for the most part, especially when it comes to videos) and MTV ( which didn't start playing urban music until BET came around, and most of those videos are showed on MTV2.

I do.

Racism comes from all directions and I believe cowardice is at the heart of it.

Rather sad indeed . . . what ever happened to "treat others as you would want to be treated?"

I read this article a couple of years ago about a black guy who took a DNA test and found out he wasn't. It raised some interesting questions about identity, and also whether he was ethically obligated to change how he identifies himself.

A similar issue came up with the guy in the famous crying Indian ad in the Sixties, Iron Eyes Cody. He was actually Italian, but Indians didn't mind that he identified as Indian.

They say people are in the prime of their lives in youth.

By that time, people are starting to build their lives, having a lot of stamina and many wishes in mind.

Old age is usually regarded as the beginning of the end.
People start to lose their looks, they start to suffer from diseases, their careers are over and their children (if they had them) are grown-up.

Young people dream of their adulhood, but never of their senior years.

However, is it true that youth is always "heaven" and old age "hell"?

It seems these days monogamy and relationships have went by the wayside in exchange for "friends with benefits" and one night stands? Am I the only one anymore that believes in making a good friend out of someone and then slowly building a romantic relationship from that, that is monogamous?

So two of my best friends and I are planning a vacation for them to fly out here to visit me in San Francisco. They are both straight and although they were EXTREMELY understanding, supportive and open-minded when I came out to them....they have very little exposure to the gay community. I do want to introduce them to a few gay events out here, but I don't want to overwhelm them. How can i go about this easily without it being much of a shock to them? When i say they have little exposure to gays, i mean NONE. lol. Also, how can i ease myself back into straight society?? I know it sounds funny, but honestly, I know they're gonna want to go to straight clubs, etc.., and im REALLY not into the straight scene.
