Hello, I am a lesbian women in a relationship. Me and my partner have been together for years upon years. And we have a few pets. We have always referred to our pets as our children and loved them very much. Our beautiful golden retriever has died but thank God, the poor thing did not suffer. Anyhow, we our both very heartbroken at the loss of our baby. My girlfriend is very upset and is running wild with a horrible idea. Her uncle is a taxidermist and she has taken the dog to be stuffed. She wants to "keep her forever". This really bothers me for obvious reasons, it's really creepy. Now, she is so grief stricken but so am I and she has already dropped the dog's body off. How can I ever so gently talk her out of it?

I wanted to stuff my doggy too when he dies, but the more I thought about it It would be hard to look at it everyday and not seeing it alive and playing. I would probably feel like I could never move on. Give it a special Burial Place with a tombstone. I also felt like it would be more at peace if burried. I mean we dont stuff people normally so that could be your argument to her. She has to think about your feelings too. If you cant talk her out of it make her keep it out of your view at all time as a compromise.

A lot of bad things has happened in my life, especially this year. Last summer, a close family friend who was in an abusive relation with her ex-boyfriend was living with us, and then her ex-boyfriend came over to our house and murdered her. I wasn't there at the time, but my mother was there and she became traumatized. My grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer early this year as well. When November came around after he got through chemotherapy and radiation treatments and we thought the cancer was gone, he died unexpectedly. My uncle was put in jail for doing drugs, but his attorney managed to pull some strings and my uncle has to stay at a rehab center for nine months. I'd have to say the worst thing that happened in my life was the murder of our family friend that occured in our house. My family hasn't been the same since the murder happened.

The first person you need to talk to is the uncle, and stop him. Then talk to her and convince her that a new puppy might help. After it's been in the house a couple of days she may come around. Let her know you are getting it for yourself(wink, wink).I hope you both get over this trying time.

I don't know...What comes to my mind is Roy Rogers and Trigger...I don't think he ever had Dale Evans stuffed. Ask your partner if anything were to happen to you if you would suffer the same fate and end up mummified in the living room corner.

EWWWW...

The only thing I can think of that can work for you both is explaining that you don't really want it around the house and asking her if she can keep (and visit) it at her uncle's.

And as a proud Floridian, I must ask...are y'all in Alabama, by any chance? ;-)

Tell her how it will make you sad everytime you see the stuffed dog.

Explain to her how this makes you feel...and buy a new puppy.
