I'm white and I get highly offended when I hear anyone, black or white use that word. My question for you is, why do black people think it's ok for them to use it, but not anyone else? I have heard that black people are out to transform the word to their own, less negative meaning? What do you think?

It depends on what neighborhood they were brought up in. If the heard the word over and over like in rap music then hearing it frequently makes a person to want to say it. In some neighborhoods it's not a bad word but it depends on who says it.

what is the N word ? give us a clue ? oh, i see now from other replies, I dont use it and dont know anyone that does, ive not heard that apart from an old film ages and ages ago. I think alot of coloured people must be very racist, as 9 times out of ten its not what the white person has thought or said at all. I say take people as u find them. I am offended you brand just "white people" in this way

Actually most white people don't say the N word to tell the truth. Mainly blacks do to each other but idk why. I would never say it because I wouldn't like if someone from a different race call me a like cracker or something similiar.

very stereotypical. Not all do. I for one accept everyone as they are and would never use that word. Some do. But it will never be ok. Black people shouldnt even say it. they make themselfs look like jackasses insulting themselfs cause the 'think' they sound cool

I don't think all whites use it, but there are some who think it is ok. But, to remedy that, I give no light to the name. It does not apply to me. Derogatory terms only have meaning when people allow them to. For those who use the term, I look at it medically, the stress of hate, will yield all kinds of conditions(high b/p, aneurysms,heart disease,etc).

...but its obviously for the same reason that certain people of other races think its ok to call a white person a cracker or white trash.
