There are economic and cultural reasons. I don't think this has much to do with common sense or intelligence.

Skiing, bungee jumping, white water rafting, and mountain climbing (with the right equipment) cost money. Traditionally, blacks have not had that kind of money until recently; culturally, we're not used to doing those things. My brother went skiiing quite a bit when he was younger, and one of my churchfriends has gone skiing a couple of times. I went once.

Tiger Woods notwithstanding, we blacks don't golf much either, and how difficult is it to hit a little white ball with a stick with a tail on it? Golf, however, has been associate with the country club, which we were barred from. Someone asked once why there aren't more black Olympic swimmers; is it because we're not bouyant? No, it because most of us couldn't afford to go swimming year round. Debbie Thomas and Tai Babilonia aside, why are there so few blacks in the Winter Olympics? Because those sports are expensive, and I suspect most of us don't live in those wintry mountains.

BTW, I'd occasionally climb rocks in Bear Mountain, NY, and I wish I had climbed more rocks!

Personally I don't know any black person who would go bunji jumping and all that wild stuff you named. Most of us aren't going to do any crazy activity that could potentially kill us. I mean I live in the hood I"m in enough dangerous situations so why on Earth would I do something dangerous intentionally, not likely and I know a lot of other blacks feel the same way I do.

This is so sad. Mister Sunshine made an excellent point. It has all to do with social status NOT race.

Black people ski, black people bunji jump.
Not all black people deal drugs or have children they can't take care of.

ALL BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT DO THE SAME THINGS.

This is a generalization, you're only perpetuating stereotypes by asking this question, and you're not helping or educating anyone with your blanket ideas. Pitiful.

There is one Tiger Woods who dominates in an all-White sport called Golf - there are the Williams sisters in Tennis. I am sure there are Black people in those activities you mentioned it's just that they may have missed some publicity. Why don't you ring up the local skating division and enquire if they got any Black people in the club

EDIT

And Black people do tame wild snakes and also hunt crocodiles,

in Africa

For a couple of reasons:

1. Those are expensive sports
2. We don't see the value or point in it
3. We have enough excitement in our daily life
(e.g. innocent people being shot by police in their home or car, driving while black, dealing with ignorant people who think we are all thugs and ho's so they judge us before knowing us individually.)

Oh yes and by the way "Another Perspective" black people aren't the ones making the majority of the money selling drugs. You really need to leave the TV world and deal with reality and real people. But, then again I guess you're like any other stupid, ill-informed, generalizing racist.

Do black people do everything as a group? I've heard black people say "we don't do that" referring to certain activities. I never hear Mexicans or Asians saying "we", only black people. I see Mexicans at national parks and Asians out hiking, but not one black person.

Simple. Because black people tend to be fairly poor, and those activities tend to attract a wealthier class of people. I've known black people who do just about everything you mention, but they tend to be educated and relatively well off.

This isn't a racial issue, it's a socioeconomic issue.
