I have a picture of my wife at my desk, and sometimes she comes to bring me lunch or take me to lunch. There's no hiding at my work. She works in a gym, and I work out at her work too, thanks to the free domestic partner memberships. Everyone at my work who knows me (it's a big company) knows "the little bald Russian girl," and everyone at her work knows "that chubby girl from Florida who can hold her breath underwater for two minutes."
Oh, and I'm bi.

Work is work. Home is home. The people that I work with feel the same as I about privacy. We don't meddle in each others' lives. We are co-workers and nothing more. We all respect each other for the job we do. No one asks anyone else about their private life. If I was asked, I would tell. I never have been and don't see a need to advertise who I sleep with at night. Do people assume they know about me? Probably. Do I care? Nope. Who I spend my nights with does not affect my job performance.

I usually just answer "no". If they go into further questioning, I'll tell them, but I think it could be a little uncomfortable for the person asking. It really depends on what your work industry is. I'm out at work..but if someone is too oblivious to know, I'm not going to help them with taking off their rose-colored glasses.

I agree I do not really associalte with many people at work, I keep my life private outside of work, no I am not a snob, I am just private, too many people assume they know too much about you, so I let them think what they want, and never really give them answers. Work force likes to gossip too much, I do not need the drama, of their lives.

The only thing that I can recall at work (many years ago) was a sweet young thing caroling "Oh look, here come the SPINSTERS. Couldn't get a man to save themselves" Somewhat twisted thinking. My partner, Gwenneth smiled at me and asked "Well fellow spinster, are we as one ?" no need for reply then or in all our 42 years together.

I just tell them I'm gay. I'm too old to care what they think. I would like to think they judge me on the job I do and how I am to work with. It's a job--not a social function.

I'm straight, but I can see that many gay people might be afraid of being persecuted at work if they are straightforward about their sexual orientation at work. And, it's really nobody's business if it doesn't affect their job.

I'm not gay and I don't really care who is. Why does everything have to be an issue? I have friends that claim they are gay and to me the only concern is, are they good people...

If you do or don't its not wrong to not say you're gay if you don't feel comfortable but personally I would tell. I t makes things easier later.
