There's Woolworth's and Tesco's, both have cheapish basic phones, including PAYG.
I'm not being rude but you may also like to consider one with a larger keypad.
I think a basic phone is a good idea, for emergencies, safety and peace of mind.

i am no6t to sure as to your aunts location,
but if she is in the united states, then there are a few options for you.the average monthly plan is around $40/$50.
in northern California,Georgia,Florida and a few other states we have "metro p.c.s.",southern cal has cricket and boost unlimited(boost mobile.com)i really like the boost unlimited myself.
these are sold at most radio shack stores and come with an unlimited amount of minutes at a set monthly fee.but are very limited as use in some areas.
wal mart/k mart and target also sell prepaid phones such as virgin mobile that you just buy the phone and a $50 phone card and your time is good for a year.
hope that i helped you out a little there.
but it really is about where she lives first.

Get a pay as you go phone. Like tracphone, its great for someone who will not be talking a lot. You can buy your minutes, alot or a little. I usually buy about 300 or so and with a bonus of another 100 they will at least last me for 6 months or more.
If you are calling outside your calling area it uses the minutes up real fast.

Get a go phone from cingular. If you get a plan on line, you can get a phone for less than $20 and the plan for 300 or 400 minutes is $29 a month.

You can take any cell phone made in the last 5 years and replace the SIMS card with a new one...that way, you buy only the service, not the phone...and cell phones are a dime a dozen..yesterdays phone was out of date as of midnight!

My understanding is that one called Plus 10 is about the cheapest and has very broad coverage. Its available at Wal-Mart. A friend has a Virgin Mobil pay as you go that cost him $5.00 per month and that's for the min. purchase on 60 minutes per 30 days. The phone cost $25.00 - Wal-Mart.

First of all, kudos for thinking about your elderly aunt! My mom has a cheap pay-as-u-go Walmart phone. She rarely uses it, but keeps it with her when she's in the car and shopping. She's ill, so this gives us all piece of mind!

Net 10 or trac phone. Phone is about $39, and includes 300 of minutes worth $30. Minutes carry over and you can add minutes on line easy.

I've seen them for £18 in Woolworths. Bog standard, but would be fine for your E A for sure.
