Trying to determine the largest organizations. For example, the American Red Cross boasts they have 550,000 volunteers. Tryi to get a ranking of sorts by volunteer size, not by the amount of money they have received.
Thank you for any help.

I was told that I might volunteer at the ER after applying to the volunteer program at a hospital. I'm just wondering what kind of work should I be expecting? I'm a student who has no medical experience or training whatsoever.

I found this great posting on craigslist. It’s a group of architects that is looking for volunteers to help with historic preservation in old San Juan, PR. It looks like a perfect task for a retired person or an architecture student. What they are doing is really great and I would love to do it myself if I lived close enough. How can we spread the word about this so it reaches the right kind of person? Here is the posting: http://puertorico.craigslist.org/vol/301792012.html

It's quite sad to see how the cancer of violence has eaten deep into the fabric of today's society. You turn on the news, you hear of people being gunned down in schools, shopping malls, on the street etc. Gangsterism is on the rise in many cities, guns are sold like candies in every nook and cranny - this is quite lamentable and absolutely a woeful state of affair. How can we rid today's society of violence? What is your take.

My aunt passed away at age 58 in June 2006 with ovarian cancer. Just today, one of my coworker's mother is so bad with the same type of cancer my aunt had, they are calling in hospice for her final days. I have seen how bad these wonderful ladies have suffered and how cancer is such an evil, horrible disease. Please help me raise money for the Relay for Life. Anything that you can do will be very much appreciated. My email address is r.merriman@yahoo.com if anyone would like to post any comments privately.
