Im going to jail for 6-23 months tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions of how to pass the time and make it an easy stay? Anyone been to prison before? Can I have a CD player and get any good educational programs while there?

I don't know what American jail is like, but I recommend you get money set up to go to your canteen. then you can start to buy stuff

another thing, keep to your self, don't hang with "groups". keep your stuff on you always, cups, toothpaste, sugars, salts, etc.. It's the only property you'll be able to acquire

read lots to keep yourself out of peer pressure, start with the bible, and stretch your legs by pacing and the yard.

Good luck. it'll be over before you know it! and when you get out, stay clean!!!

Be aware of sexual and physical predators. Ask for books, go to the Law library. Try reading a lot.. Write or tell friends to write to you..

Try doing a diary of your day each night. Get some kind of job while there. If you are in County it is not much you can do. There are more options in Prison.

Many inmate find time there to exercise and do body building. You may also talk to the Prison Chapman about religion and Volunteer work in the Church there.

You can get a trade such as printing, cooking, Ministry, handcrafts, law course or computer skills. If you give of your time as a volunteer the time will pass quicker.

Remember: You are not defined by where you are (or have been) but whom you chose to become. Read you "Rights" (they will supply you with it). God blessing!

I don't know what your going in for but I am sure you regret it, be careful it's not going to be easy, use the time to make some life changing decisions, reflect on the things that are good in your life and stay focused on your loved ones. Prison is a dangerous place, your resposible for you so don't trust anyone, keep to yourself mind your own business and do your time. Get out and don't look back, via con dios.

they've taken away education opportunities in most prisons... sorry. try to educate yourself on some topics via the prison library if they have one- its good to learn a some useful applications that you can use once you get out. Also religion is an excellent study. They dont really try to rehabilitate as much as stated, so work on yourself.

Be blessed, you future is in your own hands even if they are behind bars.

You ask as though your planning a vacation? Pardon for sounding a bit rude but you've obviously done something bad enough that they feel this is your punishment. I'd say suck it up and think about what brought you to where you are in your life and where and what you can do different and be more successful. And praying is not a bad thing either. Best of luck!

you can't bring anything with you. they will take everything you own. whatever you do, if another inmate wants something of yours, give it to them if you want to stay alive! my best friend was in prison for accidently killing her adoptive father, because he got in the way when she was trying to shoot an intruder.

but it wasn't her gun....it was her adoptive father's gun. she was killed a few months ago in prison, because another inmate wanted her shoes. she didn't give them up. so she was killed for it.

my advice to you is: stay calm and the guards watch every move the inmates make. it's not a joke! they monitor all phone calls, they monitor all incoming and outgoing mail.

Respect your self. Even if it means that you must fight. Don't try to make friends. Watch others. Do not lend or barrow anything from anyone. Never allow anyone to put their hands on you.Respect others but don't kiss ***. Don't believe anything that a con tells you. don't tell anyone about your personal life. Hang out with your own race. Never let them disrespect you.
GOOD LUCK.
