To a point yes. but many of them are offered help and dont want it. I know of a woman who saw a homeless man with a sign and she went to a pizzaria and bought him a large pizza. She gave him the pizza told him its all for him because she doesnt want him to go hungry.

He takes the pizza and threw it in the trash. He wanted booze.

This question is important so I need realistic answers.

If someone were going to donate something to you or an organization for a good cause what would you want it to be?

The gift or donation that is being given has to be universal.

It has to be something that everyone in the world can benefit from, not that it is being given to everyone, but it has to be something of the sort.

We have so many charities, donations and volunteer organizations in the USA, what are we missing?

I don't have loads of money or anything. Am a 20 yr old college student just looking t do something good for someone else. I thought about donating canned food and that would be great(although I als thought..how about making loads of sandwiches because it's more personable but then there are worries about food safety prcodures etc..) but then my friend suggested that maybe I just volunteer at a soup kitchen? Anyone know anything or somewhere I can get more information on this? Any help will greatly be appreciated. Merci!

Hello all!

I'm a college student and I will be leading a group of fellow college students on a group abroad next January (2009) to complete two weeks of volunteer work. We haven't chosen the country we will be going to yet, but that is of little matter.

What we really need is some ideas to raise money as a group! We estimate with the airfair most volunteer programs that we've looked at abroad will cost $2,000 or less per a person. Any ideas you could give for raising money would be great! If you've fundraised before, especially at the college level, I'd love to hear from you! If you could provide any weblinks to sites with good ideas, that would be great too.

More information: Our group is comprised of college students at a state university. We are a non religious group (we are part of a service organization).

Thanks!

Is it true that the "Bell Ringers" get 1/2 of the money that they collect? I heard this today and if it is so,im sure people would like to know it..I think if this is true, most people would just send a check in to them..

There are numerous sleighs in all corners of the UK with collecting boxes being carried by accredited collectors. Do you ask these people where the money goes? Do you know what Rotary International is?

I really would love to volunteer, but the Peace Corps requires a two year commitment. I don't think I could commit 2 years. I would be willing to volunteer up to 1 year. I would prefer something in South America or Africa, but I'm willing to go wherever I am needed. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I am considering volunteering in Ecuador this summer as a teacher's assistent. I just want to make sure before I sign up that United Planet is a good organization because I don't know anyone personally who has volunteered through them before. If you have used them, I would appreciate any information.
