Hey, I am volunteering over the summer in Costa Rica. Obviously the program and airfare cost money (around 1,000$ for 3-4 weeks). I was thinking that I could go around my neighborhood and ask for people to sponser me, and say something like 15% of all donations will be used to buy school supplies for the children. is this moral? and accepted? if anyone has any ideas please share.

I'm a teen and really want to help out in my community or with an organization, but there's nothing my area. Trust me, I have tried all of my options to look for a place where I could help out, such as a soup kitchen, but to no avail. Is there any way I can volunteer my time online, such as talking to people who aren't in the best situation (depressed, bullied, etc.) or.. well, anything?

Thank you to those who can give me some information.

I wish to join the Peace Corps, yet I want to be able to go to college, have a career, and a family afterwards, and from what I hear you don't get money for it.

That's what I was told. I applied & they turned me down because they said you have to be in excellent physical & mental health, & I'm not good in either one.

nowadays i see tons of my schoolmates (high school) donating just because of extra credit, and volunteering because they are FORCED to and helping out JUST because it looks good on a college application..
i thought the point of volunteering/donating was to help the world as much as possible not just using it to get into school?
what happened to people and their priorities?

There's so many flimflam charities where the executives live the highlife and still call their organizations "nonprofit", they throw fancy charity balls with fancy dinners and dancing and I think 0.1 pennies out of a dollar trickles through to the needy.

How can you tell what is what? Thanks and Happy Holidays!

When you watch the Salvation Army bell jiggler, what do you think? I think of mass stupidity. Bush gave $30 billion to Africa for supposedly "AIDS". Do you know that every Salvation Army jiggler across the entire nation for the last 100 years combined only took in a fraction of the $30 billion Bush gave to Africa? I had a gross of just over $199,000 and paid federal taxes of $51,400. This does not even count the SS taxes and medicare taxes. Since the US budget has 78% going toward social welfare, 78% of my taxes went into "forced charitable giving"--I was forced to give $40,092 to charity by the Federal govt.

If people realized how much forced charity they give in taxes, they would do as I do and not give one penny to any charity. If people would hold the USA government accountable for its tax waste and fraud, and the sending of BILLIONS of tax dollars to corrupt nations, without any form of auditing where that money goes, they would not give one penny to charity.

i am a web master and Im looking for some services I can put online to help handicapped users and I'm looking for any ideas? I will make it free with a donation system maybe that goes into some charity. I say that so it's understood I want to make something with real services not anything cheesy. I want it to be nice. I hate seeing how sometimes the handicapped things you see are like from the stone age or something. Like they use donated stuff or whatever. At least in the U.S. but they treat all their citizens second class anyway. Also anyone reading this may care about "Verbocity or ESP" if you dont know what they are see for yourself

I am wantiing to create an organization that provides information to a particular age group of women. This would allow women from the age of 25-35 to begin expressing the enevidability of "almost making it". I need some constructive criticizim, and maybe some leads myself, however I do want to give a weekly exclusive to local business that are for the betterment of all women but may benefit our age range inparticular. So where do I start?

I am 14 years old, and winter break just started today. I'm already bored and want to do something other than sit at the computer, complaining that I'm bored all day. What would be good places to volunteer at, especially that I could continue over the summer and possibly spring break?

people talk about giving gifts for toys for tots and other Charity but they don't want them going to parents who are on welfare b/c they haven't been trying to get a a job or people who are out buying crack cocain , or any drug lol, instead of buying gifts for there kids. I agree that if the parents arenot making an effort too bad for them but the kids should still have a good Christmas. Would you want to pick who you gave your charity to?
