I'm a teen and really want to help out in my community or with an organization, but there's nothing my area. Trust me, I have tried all of my options to look for a place where I could help out, such as a soup kitchen, but to no avail. Is there any way I can volunteer my time online, such as talking to people who aren't in the best situation (depressed, bullied, etc.) or.. well, anything?

Thank you to those who can give me some information.

Online volunteering requires expertise -- the opportunities listed at www.onlinevolunteering.org, for instance, require people with experience in online research, proposal writing, web site design, creating business strategies, translation, marketing, and on and on.

The kind of online volunteering you are interested in -- online mentoring -- is not common, and organizations that sponsor these programs require volunteers to come onsite for orientation and training (a LOT of training), criminal background checks, etc.

Have you looked at http://www.volunteermatch.org?

Have you tried proposing your own volunteering activities to organizations -- for instance, asking a senior center if you could read to residents? Having an idea of what it is that you want to do and proposing it to organizations -- rather than just calling and saying "I want to help", can prompt an organization to involve you.

Do you love animals???
Well there's something in the ASPCA where you could volunteer online.
Basically, you just need to help them post up pictures and information of the animals that need adopting - through the web and around your area. If you are interested visit
www.aspca.org/volunteer.
Hope i helped=)

Oh my gosh I love freerice.com! It's so helpful. Especially if you will be taking the SATs this year or in the future, because even if you get the question wrong, it tells you the correct answer AAAAANNNNNDD it donates rice to the little kids. It is so good. My friend told me about it and I'm so glad she did. Its really helpful and it makes me feel like I'm doing a good thing-- BECAUSE I AM!!! =] =] =]

Happy Holidays!

www.freerice.com

It's a fun game and you can donate many grains of rice to starving people around the world and have fun at the same time.
