i am a web master and Im looking for some services I can put online to help handicapped users and I'm looking for any ideas? I will make it free with a donation system maybe that goes into some charity. I say that so it's understood I want to make something with real services not anything cheesy. I want it to be nice. I hate seeing how sometimes the handicapped things you see are like from the stone age or something. Like they use donated stuff or whatever. At least in the U.S. but they treat all their citizens second class anyway. Also anyone reading this may care about "Verbocity or ESP" if you dont know what they are see for yourself

Do you know about standards for accessibily in web site design? Web sites should be accessible via the various accessible technologies used by people -- JAWS, for instance, is a tool used by many people with site impairments to navigate the web. These standards are discussed and promoted by Knowbility (http://www.knowbility.org). If you haven't mastered these accessibility requirements, you need to take some classes and do a lot of reading -- otherwise, no web site you create, no matter for what purpose, will be fully accessible by people using assistive technologies.

Also, people with disabilities can't be all lumped together - someone with hearing impairments may have nothing in common with someone with sight impairments in terms of needs and interests. Someone with mobility issues probably isn't served by a site geared towards someone with mental impairments, and vice versa.

Knowbility is based in Austin, Texas, but does engage in partnerships with organizations throughout the USA. After you have read through the web site, you could contact them and tell them what area of the country you are in -- they might be able to recommend an organization there that uses tech to support people with disabilities.
