Since you have put this question in the Community Service forum, I assume you aren't asking a general question but a specific one -- what can young people really do to contribute to the world? There are all sorts of activities and initiatives initiated by or carried out by young people -- young people may organize through their school, church or a youth group to raise money for an animal shelter, entertain at a senior center, educate their peers about better environmental practices, and on and on. Many people attribute the now widespread use of safety belts in the USA to young people, who learned about safety at school and then started pushing their parents to start wearing the belts -- and lead by example.

CNN is doing a promotion right now about how young people are effecting change in the world. Visit the CNN web site and look for their site about heroes. I have a blog on My Space that promotes youth volunteerism, and links to all sorts of organizations that promote and support such, and that provide lots of specific examples of how young people contribute to a better world. See the link below.

Volunteering....It is easy to find ways to contribute to society and it doesn't necessarily mean you have to donate money..When i was in high school I was a tutor, I did exercises with the elderly, I worked a split the pot golf charity classic for like 5 years (I still work it even now in college), and I have also done some other events with children like holiday parties..It was easy stuff like face painting and reading to the kids and helping them with crafts...I also have donated to St Jude's and Relay for Life and an international women's program that rehabilitates female victims of war and genocide...It is easy for younger kids to involve themselves in volunteering because there is so much variety and it can be small or great....Any gift of service is so significant to the person who needs it most

Young people get together and have sex, and make more young people; this is what keeps the world going, and is the most important thing contributed by young people.

Why don't you just pole-dance for the scholarship panel?

Youth wages means cheaper employees, less inclination to question the working conditions and wages, easily sacked with plenty of new people to choose from. They also make us adults laugh when they dress up like vampires, goths and emo's. LOL!!!! And the girls make us wish for younger days when they dress like trampy ho's bwahahahahaha.....its all good.
