Do you have a local homeless shelter that you can donate items such as jackets and other cold weather accessories? Raise awareness in your community...talk to a city counsel member, sounds small, but every contribution has the potential to help a lot of people.

Well, my mom seen a homeless person. She took him to Tim Hortons and got him a coffee and a sandwich. If you prefer something cheaper I would suggest buying bread because it is really cheap and it fills you up and giving it to homeless people you see. Or buy cheap clothes and hand it out. Another thing you could do is buy food and give it to homeless shelters that offer a Christmas dinner to the homeless.

What a kind person you are!!! I work with the homeless. Socks are one of the biggest needs of all. You have such great answers here that I don't have anything to add that wasn't already stated but people just don't realize how important and needed socks are for these people. They don't care if they're clean used socks either!

See if you have a local homeless shelter, usually you can volunteer some of your time, or you can bring clothes, food etc. they are better equiped to distribute these items than you are.

This past Saturday I drove around town with some friends looking for homeless people, and everytime we found one we gave them gift certificates to health food stores, nonperishable foods, and warm clothing. We helped ten people. Also, we gave them new posterboard to make signs. It's a really sweet thing to do.....but yeah, hats/gloves/scarves are probably the best things.

well i live in atlanta and me and my family went to the georgia georgia tech game. we saw a whole bunch of homeless people. we had some extra food and drinks so we gave them hamburgers hotdogs soda and chips. we were gonna give them a blanket but there was alot of them and we didnt want them fighting. so you can bring food and drinks and blankets to them. put it in a box though, the crack heads will take it from them.! thats what the homeless people told us!

You can go Walmart or Target and buy socks, gloves, hats, blankets, etc...and give them out to them.
Or get some disposable cups and make a batch of coffee, tea or soup to hand it out to them.
Good for you! Any little effort would be greatly appreciated I'm sure. :-)

Buy some socks, blankets, gloves, knit hats etc. Be sure to hand it to them personally. Take someone with you when you go.
