Is it true that the "Bell Ringers" get 1/2 of the money that they collect? I heard this today and if it is so,im sure people would like to know it..I think if this is true, most people would just send a check in to them..

As far as I know Bell Ringers are volunteers. They receive no pay. That is why they are having a hard time getting enough people to do it.

Call your local Salvation Army and ask them if this is the case...Call anonymously and let them know you heard this and they best check in on their bell ringers....
I have never heard of the bell ringers pocketing half the profits each day.....I'm sure you local Salvation Army would be interested in knowing who and where the people doing this are....

I've been a bell ringer before and helped bell ringers... we're volunteers. I've never received a check and I'm fairly sure the other bell ringers haven't either.

The Salvation Army is a very decent organization which does much good in the poorer communities, I have never heard that half of what is placed in the kettle goes to the tender of the kettle.Much of the work is also supported by volunteers. So I might add " Believe in nothing that you hear through the grapevine and only half of what you see."
