depends on what you are interested in......children, diseases, war, education, animals, environment, etc. Check them out first, to make sure it is giving most of your money, (92%) is my standard, to the actual cause. These are the top rated charities:

Homeless shelters in your area & any animal sanctuary. Best way is to check the needs in your area.

I always believed in giving to my local warriors like the post person , garbage man and who ever helps you year round. Depends on your budget. You want tax deductions? Also check each one out and what percentage goes into the hands of the needy. St Jude or Shriner's for here & kids. Ronald MC Donald house , and a variety of US ones. Globally I like the buy a goat or animal Susan Sarandon is hawking. Feeds & supports a family & promotes the economy development in villages.
If u can. Even UNICEF. More important is time. If you have it to give go to a shelter. I have been homeless. Amazing, rich and alone. Poor. Many reasons people are there. Often not what u expect. Kept me off the radar & best sun tan I had in Hawaii in years of living there working my asp off. I donated clothes & goods for years to them. I got some valuable experience & research back.

.. The Breast Cancer foundation, I had Breast in 2000 and I have seen personally
how far they have come. I have had 7 more years on this planet with the Help of God and treatment. My son and granddaughter
has raised 1000's of dollars. and still working on even more,,

Also St Jude's Hospital for Children is wonderful. Thank God for them.

Feed the Children has proved to be a good one also.

But most of my giving, is straight to families that are really in need, that way they get the full 100%, of all the money.

I stopped some of the bigger Chairties because such a low %
acutuly went to the people in need. Hope this Helped.

Not sure. You have to research them all before you give. Non profits are tricky. They generally only have to give something like 10% incoming funds to the actual cause. There are some good ones who give alot more, but you have to do your homework.

The Salvation Army is good - when my friend's apt. burned down they gave her some money and paid the first month's rent on her new apt. They really helped her out a lot.
