Why aren't all the popes of the past declared Saints? I mean if they are supposed to be God's representative on earth, shouldn't that be pretty much automatic?

Hi--You know how it is in most families, where you spend a certain amount on each person.
This year, I've had to spend less after a big relocation and house purchase, but am afraid people expect the same as before.
I don't know what to say to my family, because I'm not starving in the streets, just a little strapped.
Do I just give the smaller gifts and say nothing?
This one's a toughie... thanks!

So if I'm understanding this correctly, the relationship with the Goddess and God aren't like mainstream religions. It's more like a partnership than a master-servant relationship because everything, whether considered good or bad, originates from the deities so they have no desire to do 'good' or 'evil'. Everything is simply a part of the natural cycle., life and death. So first off am I even close to the mark with that?

Secondly, as everything is a part of the Goddess and God, as they are a part of every thing in nature, do they intervene on our behalf or are we considered simply another part of nature that must find our own way, but we can still call upon them to assist us in finding that path?

I know these must seem rather confusing and basic questions but for every answer I find in Cunningham's book there seem to be a dozen more that raise their head. I really appreciate any input from you Wiccans out there. Thanks for any replies you give.

You can't get rid of it? I mean, I wouldn't want to murder anyone but no body wants to adopt a retarded kid and so you would be stuck with this burdeon for life! You would have to spend the next few decades with your life and your finances revolving around one form of life that has nothing to offer in return. Isn't that sick and scary?

I want to donate a toy to a child that has illness and was wondering who to donate to, I looked at the St. Jude website and it appears that they only take monetary donations for the research hospital. Just recently lost someone to cancer and want to make a difference to a child in need.

Jesus, Jehovah, John, Jew, Judas, Judah, Jude, James, Job, Joseph, Jacob, Joshua....

The bible seems to be full of important characters that have names that start with "J". However, if you look at the Hebrew alphabet, you will see that there are no letters that make a "J" sound!

Apparently, all of these names probably originally started with the Hebrew letter Yod, which makes a "Y" sound.

English has a "Y" sound, so why do English bibles use "J" for all of these names? It seems like replacing all the original Y's with J' is sort of a silly and unneeded substitution.

PLEASE CATHOLICS ONLY

Hello , this is a respectful question to our Catholic friends in here.

This is what the Catholic Encyclopedia says about the name Jehovah.
--------------------------------------

Jehovah (Yahweh)

The proper name of God in the Old Testament; hence the Jews called it the name by excellence, the great name, the only name, the glorious and terrible name, the hidden and mysterious name, the name of the substance, the proper name, and most frequently shem hammephorash, i.e. the explicit or the separated name, though the precise meaning of this last expression is a matter of discussion (cf. Buxtorf, "Lexicon", Basle, 1639, col. 2432 sqq.).

Jehovah occurs more frequently than any other Divine name. The Concordances of Furst ("Vet. Test. Concordantiae", Leipzig, 1840) and Mandelkern ("Vet. Test. Concordantiae", Leipzig, 1896) do not exactly agree as to the number of its occurrences; but in round numbers it is found in the Old Testament 6000 times, ------>
