Every year I have to travel by car 4 hours(not too bad)to see my family on my dad's side but it has been like 10 years since i've stayed home for Christmas and I dont get to wake up early and unwrap all the presents under the tree which i think is REALLY fun with my brother.

Tricky one. It can be an inconvenience to have to travel each year, there have been times we wanted to just stay home. Now that some have passed away I'm very grateful we made the trips while we had the chance too. Maybe 1 house on Christmas Eve & the other on Christmas. That was how we solved it. Then it's like 2 days of Christmas. Exhausting but fun too. Hope this helps some.

My parents, brother and sisters live an hour away, so what we do is have my husband's family over for Christmas Eve and we open all the presents. We have our son do his "Santa" presents and stockings in the AM before we leave to go to my parent's house.

Yes,I know it can take alot out of Christmas especially in bad weather.Maybe you can do the family thing and the presents with bother if you do them at either different times or different days. For years it felt like we had two Christmases, which was fun.Only you can decide.Merry Christmas!

Hey Lil! Me again! I would rather stay home for Christmas Eve and Christmas day, then maybe later on go visit my family.

I prefer to stay home - maybe you need to ask your folks if you can either go later or start your own new tradition. Good luck - it's not easy to break with what's been done for years - either way, have a great Christmas!
